Ive got a 1.2 nova with standard everything would i be able to put a 1.3sr gearbox onto my 1.2 and does anybody know what difference it would make ? Also what bits of the sr would i need e.g what clutch do i need etc ?

1.3 sr gearbox is barley any different to your 1.2 box

1.2 has a wide ratio cluster with a 3.94 final drive
1.3sr has wide ratio cluster with a 4.18 final drive

so it will give slightly better accelleration but not much

a 1.4sr box would be better as it has a close ratio cluster with 3.94 final drive

we have recently found a couple of 14 that came with an F13 5 speed and not the F10 5 speed.

so be warned.

Some of the late SRi's had them...

if your 1.2 is fairly old it might only be a 4-speed, so changine to any 5-speed will be benificial.

aside from ratios being different and the F13 bellhousing being deeper, there is FA difference between the F10 and F13 gearbox (obv some are 4/5 spd lol)

to throw some more pins in the haystack, whats the difference between the F13 and F15 bell housing? Casting?

f15 has no access cover and larger/different main/input shafts

also has no removable pinion and is generally a stronger box

stuart.. try fitting a starter to an engine that used a f10 box and flywheel.

ill be giving it a stab soon lol

well ok a 1200 block with probably a 1.6 fly (if it fits) a 1.6 clutch and an F13 box. if its a mess fitting bits then mr grinder and welder will come out lmao. im sure the starter wont mind being welded to the block ;)

i had an F13 box on a 1.4 that used to be equipped with an F10 and everything was fine

some late SRi's had 200mm clutch same as the GSi and had a larger flywheel to match, these engine would have had F13 fitted and an F10 wont fit onto it due to the larger flywheel

the starter shouldnt make a difference tho? ive fitted 1200 starter to a GTE and the part numbers on the epc for them are all the same...

the starter has nowt to do with the gearbox tho?

u could bolt an F20 onto a 1.4 that used to have an F10 and the only thing that would need changed is the clutch plate

i've got an 'F10' 1200 starter motor on a 1.6 block/F13 gearbox.

Turns the engine over a bit slow and doesn't like to when hot, think its a bad earth. Starts ok though.
