Well, last time i put up some pics of my car it looked like this:

Since then i have sprayed the Abyss front gloss black, as well as the lower front panel, the grille is now red as well.

I then had a new rear arch welded in:

Which is now sprayed red as well..

Then i picked up this beauty from the local scrappy:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v73/dan-hipgrave/flushboot.jpg

It was in white and has been proffesionally smoothed, with a plate and not filler/fibreglass.

Then today i bought some Avo front coilovers (thanks to nutsaboutnovas) and fitted them in literally minutes, one of the easiest jobs i have done yet.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

That is with the coilovers wound pretty much most of the way down, probably somewhere around -80mm and the car handles so much better now, virtually no body roll, and the steering feels so much more responsive. Only downside is that i will probably end up paying for a new set of tires each month

So whats people's opinions?

Good progress mate like the new boot and front coilovers, though dont you think you should sort the rear out asap,as it will be very unbalanced till you do

cheers for the responses guys..

The rear suspension is going to be sorted next weekend, i could have done it today as well but just couldnt be arsed to grind the rear arches, as they scrub already on standard suspension, but ive got a full Koni adjustable -60mm kit as well as a set of -40mm GMAX springs sat here, so next weekend the rear will be dropped at least 40mm.

Hoping to get it all sprayed up very soon, at the moment the only white bits left are the front wings, but the rear quarter needs doing again. Was going to go for a metallic red until i got quoted ?1700 for doing just the outside, not even the engine bay or door shuts lol

Then in the summer i get 2 years NCB so a bigger engine will be going in, and it will be at least a 1.6 :D

Very nice mate.
Making nice progress.
That colour is really growing on me now, looks nice :)
How come you have sprayed the abyss gloss black, is it staying like that, or is it just for the time being.
And has the boot been sprayed with a compressor, or with cans.

Car looks nice and tidy, well be sound when done :D

Looks good mate.
Any pics of the front bumper sprayed i want to see if it looks anything like the gsi big mouth bumper?

cheers mate..

I sprayed the Abyss front in black because i thought it would then look more like a smoothed bigmouth GSi bumper, give it more of a standard look. I think if it was red it would look too chav stylee for my liking

The boot was sprayed by me, with cans, and i couldnt be happier with the result as its no different to the rest of the cars paintwork, has a completely smooth finish. I found that a lot of coats of lacquer do the trick, otherwise you will have an orange peel finish to it.

Hopefully next weekend, it will all be one colour, and lowered at the back as well as a few other problems sorted out (the sump is spewing out oil at high speeds - only found that out earlier after a blast down the motorway to get the coilovers)

Ive got to admit i didnt think it would look good the abyss bumper, but big respect it suits it. Now you need some gsi skirts in black.

GSi skirts are going to be one of the next things that i get, and then thats pretty much it for styling..

Good progress, really coming together now !

it'd look alot better with a GSi front, but after all, the Abyss bumper is basically a smoothed GSi one.

I think you should go get a qoute for a respray in a shade darker.... Burgandy red prehaps ?

well you've definetly made alot of progress on it dan, the colour looks nice aswell, what made you go for the abyss bumper?

The deciding factor for the Abyss bumper was the price - ?40 for that or ?50+ for a bigmouthed GSi one

Dont think i want the colour any darker Nick, it already gets called brown by everyone i know lol

Good progress there mate, but that front bumper is still letting it down that mesh is just not right, a standard mk2 bumper with a splitter would look better if you can't find a gsi one :?
