dear tech heads

would a large block gearbox say F20 or F28 fit onto a small block engine say my 1300sr block,

how much modding would be involed (cost not a problem) just that i need a gearbox that can take 200bhp min,

or is there any way for the F13 (i think) to take this power with out killing it)

i have asked before but can not find it :roll:

get an F15 box, i think thats the highest rating small block box.

That should be more than enough. TBH an F13 would probably do. Speak to CP, see what his valver rocket has.

what the hell are your doing to get near 200bhp anyway :D I think the F15 will top out at bout 110mph or is that the F16? I know one of them is very close ratio

baxter, i have a f15 for sale, the f15's are a bit more robust than the f13's. they have a stronger 1st and 2nd gear.

its this simple.
f13 = 130lb of torque
f15 = 150lb of torque
f16 = 160lb of torque

i think you can see the system now.

i would prob consider a dog box if you are going to hit those type of power bands there baxter

doesnt the F16 have a differnent diff? i tried to put one on my 1.3SR when my F13 blew up,but the shafts werent big enough for the diif.
so i put in a F10, and blew that up as well!!
oh, how i love fixing my Nova when i drive it like a tw@t!!!

you can fit a big block box if u want however you'll need to arse around with the clutch (ie fit a 2.0 clutch to your small block flywheel) and u'll need to use big block inner cv's just like u do when your fitting a 20xe

the box will bolt streight on

and what does a gearbox ident code have to do with the gearing?

my F15 came of a 1.7 diesel astravan and has a wide ratio cluster with a 3.55 final drive - that means it would do about 180mph at 7k in 5th gear
the f15 fitted to a corsa gsi has a close ratio cluster and 3.74 final drive which is the same as the box fitted to nova gte's as standard which tops out around 130mph

the Fcode is simply the casing and shafts identifier, has nothing to do with the actual gearing

all F20's are Close ratio with 3.55 final drive (except 4wd models)
F16's and F18's can be a whole host of things
