Ive always wondered, could you fit one big mother fcuker of an engine like that in a nova?

yes, but it would be slower than a C20XE probably.

yes it has been done, my mate had one and it was faster than a valver on the road.

Yeah heard of a few-Havent seen one yet. Plenty of modifying potential should imagine. But I should think the XE is quicker on a 1/4 mile.

the only reason a xe would be quicker is because of the torque differance, the v6 will probably spin more but saying that it all depends on how well your car is set up for a 1/4 mile.

There was a piccy of a red 5-door with a V6 block posted on another thread quite recently. The car was a shed, looked like a good sleeper!

thats not a V6 though, and it doesn't share the same mounts as the V6 or C20XE i think.

its a V6, reason it looks a bit different is the none standard throttle bodies

my mate is running a v6 turbo in his nova he is using the turbo off a saab there a direct fit it touchs the rad but it does go it has got 202 bhp at the wheels the only trouble is traction he dont get it till the end of third by that time my xe has gone past and hes playing catch up but when he does he has no trouble coming past me when im doing 130 he just flys past me like im sitting still it will be fcuking quick if he could get traction

Philsutton
05-05-05, 05:52 PM
how has he done the turbo, single or double?

novaboyopr
05-05-05, 06:01 PM
just a single turbo running off the front manifold running a mr2 intercooler behind the front bumper with 6 holes cut in the bumper infront of the intercooler he has had to move the rad forward and angled slightl;y but it still rubs on the turbo

Snowface

i retract that last comment lol, i thought it had 8 trumpets for some reason. The thing is i've seen that pic several times before and i always assumed it was a mad V8 conversion. guess the tb's disguise it a bit, i know now lol.

 *sigh* I guess its only a matter of time before some bright spark decides what a Nova needs is a helicopter engine shoehorned in  hmm now there's an idea  Very good accleration once over 150mph and the wheels have stopped spinning in 5th gear

surely it can't be getting the correct pressure if its only running from 1 down pipe, wouldn't it need to be fed from both pipes?

isn't there a pipe coming from the other down pipe into the turbo?

burgo
11-05-05, 07:43 PM
nope you only need three cylinders to power a turbo
