Hi all.

I am just wondering if anyone has had any experience in making slightly flaired arches for the Nova hatch (3dr).

I know Coxie is in the process of widening his arches to fit wide-ass wheels, but his are going to be round, where as I want to keep the standard square arch shape.

I don't want to opt for the BIG lairy wide arch kit, and I know I've seen some WIP pictures on here before of someones car that had slightly flaired arches. (Anyone know the ones I'm talking about, or who the car belonged to?)

I know Dan Paynes Nova (yellow beast on 19" RSGT's) had slightly flaired arches, and I want to do something like that.

Any ideas on thickness of metal, how to get the right shape, type of welder to use???

Any ideas / pictures welcome.

Many thanks,

Rob.

You could try chopping on some Frontera arches if you're a dab hand with the bodywork... they wouldn't look totally out of place

Your talking about Rick's WIP projects of his Red Turbo.

he has slightly flared front arches, but in the square form.

Yeh; SRimon you have the arches I mean.

Any more WIP pictures of them?

Coxie; I don't really like the flicked out edge on those arches, but the whole euro style ain't my cuppa tea!

Thanks,

Rob.

rick's front arches were spot on, they were in there construction form, not even finished or sprayed i don't think

Try hunting around in the general section.

The arches on that grey nova look weird it looks like someone has just bent them out a bit.

yeah - basically theres a tool that rolls them out rather than up.

You may be able to stretch your existing arches - how big are you looking for (sorry - only skip read this post) - at what offset?

If youve not rolled the lip or ground it back then you could try fabricating an arch like here -

www.corsa.webb.se

Check the projekt corsa page - the gallery shows a nova arch where the guy built a new one. You could cut the existing arch up the middle, remove the flared section, then reweld a bigger flared section in and weld up a plate between the cut bit to widen the arch - then you'd need to remodel the inner arch (not a huge prob if you can manage all the 1st bit).

Yeh Ade - those pictures of his arches are just what I needed to see! - I know what I'm doing now.

Cheers for your picture as well Rick. (Hope to see more soon!)

Many thanks for the help all!

Will start the arch work this weekend!
