so ive got a 2ltr 16v running a c20xe (late one from a calibra) pretty standard engine .. running on an f20 gear box
got a full magnex and an air filter with manifold heat wrapped..

its rapid as it is, but i want to add some more power weather its on accelaration or top end, what do you guys think? or would do next?

budget is up to ?500... but ofcourse want to get it as cheap as possible..

?500 will get you a decent nitrous kit. best bet for mad power for nto a lot of ??? lol

erm do you have the SFI boxx if so you could replace that with power cap

then cam kit

de-cat if you have one

you could convert it to carbs some nice twin webbers on it

list is endless

courtney/irmischer power cap approx ?90 new (or find onesecond hand)

set of cams ??? cheaper on exchange

engine service ???

interior strip out ? free

problem with carbs is need carbs/manifold/pressure reg/possibly new fuel pump/set up on rr could come to over ?500 easily

nitrous isnt "extreme" if its setup right lol

Illegal for road use though isn't it? afaik you're allowed to have it in a road car but not fully connect and use it?

many things are illegal but are done!

think you have to have a compressed gas sticker too now!

has to be carbs, you wont regret it

i would go with
power cap.
qed do some cams for around ?200
then get them all fitted
strip the car out
buy braided brake lines and some decent pads.

i dont think you will get more out of the car for the money you have.
but carbs are a def way to go, but will need atleast 1k to get all the bits together and set up properly

sorry have to disagree with you there sean, imo the power cap is a waste of money.

there was a thread on here ages ago..

mantzel powercaps runing a 10% loss on a standard XE

I'd definetly say carbs too. You can get a Carb setup and on for ?500, then run it untill you can afford an RR setup.

Failing that, get some cams and a decent exhaust, then get the carbs next on the list.

Eventually you'l be wanting to change the standard injection for something else, meaning a powercap is a short term waste of money.

i have to agree: CARBS!

im lucky because...

...as mine is my first car, i know my next steps:

- Get CD Player Installed
- Get my new alloys on the car
- Respray mirror, sideskirts!
- Bolt in spoiler properly
- Alarm, Immobilser (maybe)
- Central Locking
- Electric Windows
- Centre Console & Door Caps
- Window Tints
- Lower it!

that should be done within the next few weeks :)

- Alarm, Immobilser (maybe)

security should never be a may be, it's got to be done if you want to keep your car, nova's are sooo easy to steel, why take the risk

got an imo and alarm on mine aswell as a steering lock! useually parked in my drive anyway but yea they are very easily to steel.

Im quite suprised no-one has mentioned to get a superchip and get it remapped?????

i was thinking that... a dastek.. whats the gain on them? is it worth it?

Yea my engine has teh sfi box, its from calibra as i said its a black top injection one.

can i get carbs on them?

what carbs will i be looking for.. dont really know much about them...?

Forget about more power

Strip out all your excess weight and get yourself a Quaife Diff

Believe me - it's the best money you will ever spend (As anyone who's fitted one will tell you !!!)

Totally transforms the nova - will make you want to accelerate into corners !!!! - and still go round them without understeering off into the kerb !!

lmao, scary advise from the pros lol

id be inclined actually to strip the car out, get decent tyres and brakes, your point to point times will plumet

Or get some throttle bodies off a bike. Then buy the adaptor and bits. Dont know the ins and outs but might be possible for 500 squid if you do a lot yourself....

I used nitrous on my old nova with a blacktop lump in it and it loved it:

Here it is winning the RB vs NL shootout outright last year:
