I have just fitted a Nova GTE engine into my SR. Upon start up today, the car is sounding like a subaru and has not got much power. My SR seemed faster. Any suggestions? I have checked the plugs and they seem fine, number one plug was a bit wet though.
sounds like your running on three cylinders to me
sounds like your running on three cylinders to me
Which would explain why only one plug is covered in fuel.
or even worse.. oil !?
yep, i'd take the plugs out and have a look. Treat it to some new plugs and leads if that's the case. just carefully pull off one HT lead at a time, the one that doesn't make a difference to the sound of the engine running is the troublesome one.
Apart from that you have have distributor issues.. and if it's all sparking correctly, them im afraid you have bigger issues, i.e bent valve ?

i have the same prob on my 1400 16v its a bitch but usually happens when its damp? would this make n e difference?
sorry to hijack ur post focusrs by the way!
sounds like a coil problem.
i think JL1400 on this site, said his 1.4XE 16v used to run on 3 everytime it was wet because of a dodgy coil.

The problem was that the car was running on three cylinders due to me not connecting one of the injector plugs properly
