View Full Version : gutted
ive just fitted my second amp and two 10" subs in my parcel shelf
and nothing
no sound from the subs
tested the amp power was at it 12v so hooked the amp up too my 12" alpine which i know works and still nothing so came to the conclusion the speaker outputs are faulty
so i shall be trawling ebay now for a new 480w 2 channel amp if anyone wants me lol
A well stupid question, but are the RCA and remote wires sound, and is the gain turned up?
am not 100% sure now as ive just tried a second amp and still got no joy
i have live remote and earth but no output
how do i test for out put and to see if the rca leads are intact
really need help on this as ive not encountered this problem before

well how strange is this since i put my 12 sub in my rear quarter panel reversed of course now the rear 6x9s are all crackly and when i slammed hte door the speakers cut of and there running from my headunit how strange is that so when my bird goes home 2 moz being monday ima strip it all and rewire everything as i think ive screwed thru one of the rear speaker wires like a muppet i am lol

I would check the RCA are connected, and that the remote is connected well.
The only way to check is to try another RCA lead/remote wire, check for a voltage at the remote wire connection to the amp, i don't think it should be 12V at remote, well, mine wasn't i don't think anyway.
well to test the output of the amp and the RCA leads you'l need a Little oscilliscope, unless you can use something else.
the RCA output should be a sine wave with a peak voltage of something like 2 volts IIRC
the output will be a bigger version of the RCA lead-output.
i think what ill do is use the rca leads from the first amp as i know they deffinatly work i had all voltage with the remote and perminant :?
don't worry about the remote being 12v, that's normal for a 12v car system. the same current that feeds the ignition tio the head unit is put down the remote wire by a solenoid inside the head unit

aye yeah i know mate
it was the rca leads that was the problem i bought another decent set (auto leads) with a built in remote wire ?17.99 from motorworld
everything works and is very loud lol
