As you may be aware - I decided after finishing a few models that although people said they were good, I wasnt happy with them. They took too long to make and the proportions weren't right.

So - At the start of the year I started again - to make a 1:18 Nova to scale using tech drawings.

I've been doing bits n bobs on it ever since and thought Id post some updated pics. Theres still a fair amount to do but most of its there. Jysr working on the bumpers at the moment and making sure everythings kept as close to scale as possible.

the pics show the GSi front bumper before the final details are put on and the rear bumper that I started this evening. The shell is on the whole there - just needs spraying and then final cleaning up and fine detail applying.

I've made it so body kits can be easily applied (hence the big gaping holes at the front and back).

At the current speed I'm going at (in amongst other projects) I "should" have it ready for casting end June (ish).

These pics show the car before the bonnet was trimmed and modified and the bumpers made

These pics show the car as it is today with basic GSi shaped bumper and start of rear bumper. The arches need cleaning up (as in they need widening). The achual flare is there - you just cant see it (the black line gives it an odd look).

The pinky colour is the modeling putty I'm using (its called Sculpy) - looks like skin :x and I need to spray it to highlight the faults. The last few pics show it sitting funny - this is because the GSi bumper at the front is bigger than the rear so its jacking it up a bit - but I'm 100% happy with it.

I think you started to do this before i joined up as i havent seen anything about this before, but bloody hell, it must take loads of hours to do and lots of patients. Fair play to you mate, what sort of price are you look at to do models of people cars? (im taking it you are going to do this)

basically, the plan is to make the basic shell, then make the body kist separately. That way I can make multiple copies of the shell which for a 3 door is the same - and use a range of kits/wheels to "mod" it.

I'd like to be able to interchange the kits but I dont think that'll be possible. Dont want any visible lines if I can help it.

Price wise - at the moment as theyre all made and finished by hand and they come in their own boxes, mounted and custom sprayed, rices will (once complete) start at ?80 for basic GSi/GTE level ones, then rise depending on the amount of mods. For your "standard" after market kits the price prob wint change that mush, its when you start changing things ike the arches, bonnet extensions, smoothed boot etc I need to base price on time.

To make the wheels, I'll copy a standard wheel from a 1:18 model and then drill out the centre detail and cast it again. This will give me a template to make any wheel I want (within reason). They wont have the rubber feel but will have the rubber look to them.

Hoping to have one finished for June (ish)
