I wouldnt be too clued up on my carbs but im intrested in the possibility of 45's for my 2L 8V nova... Dellortos seem to be slightly cheaper than webbers im just wondering is there much of a difference in them? can dellortos be used on a manifold to suit webbers??

From what I gather the dellorto's are the same fitment as the webers, So I assume the same inlet would be in order. Im sure somebody will get back to you to confirm this. As for which is better. I have webers & think there great. I should think there the same perhaps the dellorto's being more preferential as its easier to get parts in my experience.
Dellorto's are a revised version of Webbers.
They are meant to have slightly better fuel atomisation characteristics. Webber's design was in the 60's i think, but Dellorto's came out 70's. (could be wrong on the dates)
Apparently Webber have gone bust ? i don't know if this is a rumour.
At the moment, any GOOD RR or Motorsport shop should beable to get Dellorto parts as well as Weber parts. but if the rumour is true, then weber parts will no doubt become harder/more expensive.

You are correct m8 Webber have indeed went bust, which as you say mite cause probs in future ..
Yes, the info came from the chap at the local motorsport shop.
He advised me buying a set of webers prehaps for their value purposes in the future...
But for usage he told me to get a set of dellorto's because of the revised design, and the same avilability of parts.

Something I remember reading a while back was Weber made the DCOE, then Dellorto revised the design, then weber made the DCOM which is supposed to be the best of the 3. Someone might want to look into that and find out if it was bullshit or not.

From what I have seen, Dellortos are better made / sealed. You can even run a turbo using dellortos straight out of the box, whereas webbers need resealed

weber and dellorto 40's use the same manifold.
some weber Trumpets are different to Dellorto ones, they push in rather than have 2 bolt holes.

you still need to get dellortos pressure tested like you do webbers. there are dellortos that can be turboed tho. from old lotus's
there are also old webbers that are turbo carbs.... a set some on ebay now and again

Webcon are producing the DCOW carb, a replacement for the weber DCOE carb, see www.webcon.co.uk for details..
