Whats Illegal and Whats not???

hey,

i realy want a twin centre exit for my abyss rear bumper but i have heard that for this i wil have to remove my spare wheel bay??

can u put it some where else or not and is it illegal not to have a bay and not to carry a spare wheel ???

plz help befor i go cutting things up lol

You don't have to have a spare wheel! Its not illegal not to have one.

You can have a centre exhaust made around the well, so you keep the wheel well.

Yup, you don't need a spare wheel. I never carried one in my hatch - but bear in mind if you get a flat you'll either need some tyre weld or RAC membership!!

Bear in mind the spare wheel and wheel well offer some added reinforcement to the rear end in the event of someone hitting you from behind

i never had a spare wheel as my boot was full of stereo
i had a can of tire foam and an AA mebership

when i spun out and blew out a front tyre , managed to get the car to the side of the road with no damagei phoned the rac and the asked if the car was damaged i said no and they asked if i was able to change the wheel i said no , they then said someone can come and change it, so i told them i didnt have a spare, rac then said this is illegal and is not covered i then begged them to flatbed me back home -- and so bear the above in mind

its is ilegal not to carry a spear wheel. I've just past my driving test and asked the on the test and was told you have to carry a spear tyre. I also asked a mate who is a copper who also confirmed that it is ilegal not carrying a spear wheel.

thats complete bollocks you do not have to have a spare wheel however if you do it has to have legal tread. just make a twin exit exhaust that goes round your spare wheel well

Yep thats correct, if you carry one but its bald, thats ILLEGAL.
If you don't have one then its NOT ILLEGAL.

Heh, I remember shredding a tyre at college on the hatch and still driving the 2 miles home without a problem lol
