well im going, got my track passes ready. The car is making some strange noises at the moment but nothing a good trash wont sort out. Also it better be good weather.

I will be there with the Nova. I haven't got any passes yet but I will be there. Im trying to get the Mk1 Escort finished for Combe as well but its going to be a tall order. I will be there friday night :mrgreen:

Both my dad and little brother will also be there with their cars :D

I will also be running with the camera in the car so I will try and get on a session each with BigRuss and Phil. Im really looking forward to it. I've roughly set up the suspension and the car feels nice and pointy, cetrainly alot better than last year. So I hope to improve on my lap time (1:25).

Was trying to get all sorted for this, but with work comitments etc, just havn't had the time to finish it. Still needs an exhaust system making and the diff sorting; amoungst other things.
Also need to get a laod of road miles before some hardcore track action. :roll:

For those of you that are interested here is an overview of the day.


Phil was right with his weather forecast, it was raining big time when I got there.

Drove the car to noise and was 99db @ 4,500rpm (result I repacked the boxes yesterday because it was 105db at the last rally @4,500rpm :o ), went to my safety briefing :roll: checked the car, decided what tyres to use and went out on My 1st session :D

Feck Me it was super slippery in and out of bends, and was still raining. Anyway I thought I'd done fairly well as I lapped everything and actually passed some of them twice :D

But..... the Marshalls didn't agree, I was pulled in and had an official warning for overtaking too early out of bends :lol: :lol: :o :o And apparently My car was too loud at the drive by point 103db :roll:

By the 2nd session I'd learnt where the drive by noise meter was so eased off past it every time :lol: By now it was drying slightly and I'd changed front tyres which transformed the grip everywhere. I only overtook on the straights and was really enjoying passing loads again.

There was delays in the afternoon anyway but then some muppet rolled his Golf which caused more delays again :roll: Didn't go out on My 3rd session as there was an hour delay so packed up and went home (Just got in).

Watched Philsutton on two sessions and spoke to him briefly. Had a couple of chats with Dar and saw him on one of his sessions along with his Dad in his RS Turbo and his mates in a MK1 escort Cossie turbo and big power Sunny Gtir.

All in all a good day, Novaload was well represented and I'd recommend a Castle Combe action day to anyone, just watch your overtaking moves and your noise :roll:

so you didnt see me lose control at 110 then? lol, it was right in front of were you were all parked. A mk2 golf did the same as i did a few mins later but rolled it about 5 times opps.

It was fun despite the weather! Phil I was watching you as you lost it on the straight. Nicley held though :wink: you went ALONG way sideways :D

As you can see the Orange Mk1 Cossie powered Escort made it! I really didn't think we where going to do it to be honest, we where still putting it together on friday :o

My second run was fun and the car is handling well. Looks like the money spent over the winter has paid off. I have both my runs on in car camera and will put them up as soon as I have them done.

It was good to meet you Russ and your car sounds loverly (goes bloody well as well). Phil I didn't get chance to find and talk to you, next time.

Yeha it went side ways for a long time, almost kept it which would have looked good if i had lol. The track was very slippy, i couldnt power out of the corners as i would have liked, but i still enjoyed it.
Had a quick look at the nova an escort an nova as we went past to que up, mmm very nice.

Slippery wasn't the word!! I just stayed in 3rd and 4th because 2nd was just a joke!

Three cars (including you) lost it on that bend in quick succession. The guy in the Golf was the unlucky one :roll:

Yeah the Red Dominite Sprint (spelling) was running a cossie lump that I was told was pushing out 600bhp wuth a 100 shot of nitrous! Its a MAD car. Around quarry he was backing off and then nailing it. Looked like he was trying to make a dry patch :lol:

Yeah, Thats just the way it goes I suppose. Did you keep it flat around the bend? I was lifting slightly to keep the thing stable (Mainly because of what happend to the Golf AND chatting to Russ). He pointed out that the cars where twitching just there.

everytime i backed off just before it, but the time i lost it i didnt. I had 110 on the clock when the backend broke away. In the dry you should be able to keep your foot down all the way from the far end of the straight all the way down.

Yeah in the dry you can, but it wasn't dry :wink: I guess you where just testing :lol:
I like the bend after the first set of esses, you can keep it planted and slide all the way around there as well. But not a chance in the wet OR damp.

This is the most up to date piccy I have of the engine bay (14th April). After that we were panicing about getting it to Combe so piccy taking went out of the window. I haven't got any piccys of underneath the rear end, but its 5 linked and is running an atlas axle (Capri jobbie).

Sounds like You were lucky Phil, that Golf was bad, happened right in front of My van but missed it cause My mate wanted a burger!!

That bend was no where near flat on My first session but I was taking it flat on the second session as it dried out a bit. Mind I was running cut inter's on the front and full wets on the rear.

All Dar's lot, Phil and Myself passed some cars you would think we shouldn't have. My biggest scalp's of the day were a couple of VX220's.

Shame they didn't know they'd been passed by a 1400 :lol:

I was there, was great fun watching, saw phill and dar on the track, both looked quick, plenty of fast novas there by the looks of things. Really made me want to get on and finish my yellow one :lol: The most fun part was the wet muddy field I had to park in, bit of hand breaking and got the car covered in mud now :lol:

Yeah, im still smiling as well. I loved the second run. Although it was still a tad damp, so I couldn't (daren't after seeing the Golf) go flat in some of the places that I should have.
