carbs wont run engine

ok not sure about carbs really but my webbers wont run on the engine. they are popping and quicken up when you give it some throttle but still the engine wont run.

could this be because they have jets for a 1.3 and the engine is a 1.6?or would the engine still run but run badly?
or is it because it needs setting up properly?

i dont wont to take it to webber place if the cars fucked and this is my last chance with this engine now.

the carbs will need balancing and the tick over sorting out or you wasting your time, you need to make sure both carbs are opening at the same time or it will cough and splutter, you also need to check your ignition timing, if its a mile out it wont tick over or rev up properly.

^^ agreed. wrong jets won't help. get an expert to set them up properly on a rolling road.
