Hmm, it turns out my bearing very curtiously welded itself to the stub axle about 20m from the garage on tuesday...

Am i right in thinking the stub axle can be whipped off , and a whole rear beam isn't neccessary ?

Also, i'm due to pick up a stub axle from the locally scrappy tomorow, however i don't know what nova it is off.. just checking there aren't any variations in stub axles ?

yeah if you look behind the damper there'll be four bolts, undo these and the stub axle will fall off. According to haynes the bolts have some sort of coating on them and they're supposed to be replaced after being disturbed.
As far as I know all Nova stubs are the same.
