would using just aerosol work alright though?

aerosol would look crap imo and would cost a fortune, might be cheaper to hire a compressor and a gun (or even borrow) and buy the 2k paint (no laquer required) and do it yourself

mine cost me ?160, which was enough to do the full car inside and out including the inside of the roof, but that was metallic. But breeze blue shouldnt cost you anymore than ?100 with the activator and thinners

paints not that dear really but ull ned either thinners if C.O.B or activator if straight paint ..

will need to be mixed so ull need the correct measuring stick to do 2:1 ratios or watever the paint u get needs ..

also clear if u do C.O.B (clear over base) kinda explains it self really

hiring them for 1 das not to expensive but if out goes rong n u ave to do it all agen u cud start runnin up a bill if u need it for a few days etc ..

ring ur local hire shops in yellow pages or yell.com

get a quote

if your decide to paint it with 2k and youve primed it with cellulose aerosol then test a small area first to see if the two paints react. if they do you will need to give it a coat of isolator.

oh and dont breath in the 2k fumes, they not right good for your health.

I used aeorsols on my 1st ever respray - emptied all the motor shops in Stafford of carmine red! I used 35 cans - 2 coats and it cost a BOMB!

The job was very good (Im good with spray cans) but after a year of driving, the stone chips took their toll!

I didnt lacquer the finished job mind - couldnt afford it.

I resprayed my car using compressor and 2pak 2 yrs ago and tbh although it was a good experience I wasnt happy with the amount of cash I spent. For the money I could have got a garage to do it for probably less.

At the end of the day it all depends on the state of your shell. I had to rebuild alot of my arches so had to etch primer large sections of the car. Standard primer (the grey stuff) just sint good enough for a full respray.

I had access to a double garage - I built a spray booth (with extractor) using tarpaulin from B&Q (cost about ?30 all in) and hired a standard compessor and a HVLP (low pressure) compressor after the 1st spray job cocked up. That cost me ?250 for a week from HSS. because I was using 2 pak paint which is cyanoacrylate (v dangeros to the lungs) I had to hire a fresh air respirator and mask too - that was ?125 for a week. The paint including etch primer, primer surfacer, 3tlrs of carmine red, mixing cups, filters, measuring rule, correct thinners, activator, masking tape and other little bits set me back ?250. It was one hell of an experience but not one I'd recommend to a novice.

Save up a bit - your average decent body shop will charge about ?450 for a spray job (basic prep and top coat).

If you imaging 35 cans at ?6 a can for the 500ml ones - its only a hundred or so less...

seeing as youve started sanding and priming why not finish it off n just brush on some bus paint as it doesnt come up too bad if u buff it afterwards, just do that for now n save up for a respray which SHOULD only cost around 450 - 700 for a decent job in basic paint.
