Anyone no where i can get hold of some de-greaser for my bumpers before they are sprayed? i understand that the bumpers have to be thoroughly cleaned and de greased before sprayed, right? :?

i found this - http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/catalogue/product_detail.asp?PCODE=CAS1796/8941&GRP=RP081&PGRP=R009&CLS=ROAD&from=search&atb=Y

this the right stuff? beacause it says 'parts' degreaser, the bumper classified as a 'part' :o

cheers

I've sprayed tens of bumpers with no problem. Clean them with a clean cotton cloth with white spirit, wipe the bumper dry as much as you can with a dry cloth and use a heat gun to evapourate the excess. Works every time and cheap to.

if theyre stock bumpers (just standard grey ones with the little bobbles all over them) and you now theyve been "polished up" (using that spray on exterior bumper polish stuff) you'll ned to go over them loads of times because its silicone based on paint hates silicone (it causes a paint fault known as fish eyeing and its a nightmare!)

You can use white spirit or panel wipe or even engine degreaser - just test a small area 1st though.

Bumpers are a bitch to spray because if you do them yourself and dont do it right (ie dont prep the surface, use a good primer and put wenough paint then lacquer on) you'll be touching up the stone chips for ever more and it'll look nasty.

You'd be better getting it done by a body shop - they'd prob charge ?150 for both front and rear and to be honest you;d spend that on paint and time preping everything.

I'm spraying my corsa bumper and arches black at the moment. There's a fair bit of dirt in them, same will easily happen if you spray yours, so make sure u've loads of lacquer on so you can sand and polish them safely without lossing the finish.
