I am thinking about servicing my car myself and I wanted to make sure I had covered everything.
Plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm
Oil and filter
Timing and drive belt
Water pump gasket/o ring
Coolant change
Renew brake fluid (whats the best way to do this?)
Air filter

Is there anything else I should consider? Brakes were done @ MOT.

to renew the brake fluid u wud have to bleed the system then put it back together doin the necessary to make sure no air gets in then top up with new fluid.

I think on carbed engines the filter is inside the pump itself.

guessing from his name 1.2i merit, hes got an spi engine

so yes you would need a fuel filter located near the tank under the car

and also you should change the timing belt tensioner

imo id would get the shorter timing belt and bin the auto tensioner completely and just use the water pump to adjust the tension.

if you bothered to read the first post hes going to get the 50p o ring lol

its nota big deal to crack the pump, get it out and reseal it. unless your scared of that kind of thing.

i wouldnt have recomended removing the auto tensioner if i didnt think it was a good idea!

sorry i mean. i am not botherd about the water pump. was just easyer to do the tensioner.

its up to any one what they want to do, which ever way they like it.

oh yea one thing u may want to consider is using a litle redex when u do ur service

if u do the spark plug method then watch out cuz itll smoke like hell
