i,m at the end of my tether...after dropping me motor 30 mm on 195 50 r15 i ground the arches back as far as i dare ( into the weld spot ) BUT tonite was shopping nite - and with an average load ( for 2 people ) me bloomin arches rubbed again - specially on the drivers side . I doubt very much if the grinders an option - so tyres 45s are the answear - but WILL they really make a difference??
Rims are fox evo 3s
what offset are the wheels
i had this problem on my fiesta the wheels were the right offset only they were to tall
i just left it and it cured it think it wore the inner arch down a bit
i know thats no help what so ever to you and the wrong way to cure a problem like that

they are the correct offset ..49 -i may have to be a bit braver with the angle grinder AND go for 45 tyres -
as for leaving it - yes mate i,ve considered this but er in doors dont like it -
off to budget tyres then.
you dont wanna grind the arches you wanna roll them
:o
ET49 on 195/50/15 shouldn't be rubbing, especially not with a 30mm drop!!

well they rub right in the middle of the arch ...not bad like , but enough to cause a discontented frown - and around this towns roads ( lunar surface ) i dont need it .Burgo , honest mate how i wish i,d never ground them arches - theres about 7-9 mm left ( they,ll split if i i have em rolled now ) so i think the tyres are the only option left ..
At present i cant carry anyone i the back - and even the bloody weekly shops a problem.........
strange thing is - this problem really cmae to light the day the springs were fitted...01 04 .05 :!: :o
off to budget tyres for a lower profile .....
What springs are they? upgrading to stiffer ones with aftermarket shocks ought to improve things.
45 profile tyres will be about 1cm thinner than your current 50's btw.
lol - I ground mine amost right to the edge!
still rub though!
Mind you I decided to pot riven the outer and inner sills together as well as bond them with fibreglass (had to rebuild both inner arches).
Solid now though.
If youve got the right offset they shouldnt be rubbing. Id take a but more off - just make sure you seal the area youve ground with grey stripe sealer - can get it from halfords for about ?20 a tin). You can overpaint it and its water proof. Just take a bit away from the area thats rubbing.
Ade
a mate of mines had a problem like this not so long ago on his valver .. perfect et49 alloys lowered arches rolled rite bak .. and one side caught .. turns out the chassis twisted and is causing one side to touch the arch ..
not much help to you like but is just another thing that could be causing problems

i dunno how people can just let it happen becos the worst scenario is your flyin down country lanes doin between 60 n 80 u hit a low spot in the road and u have a blow out on the back tyre where the arch has gone thru the rubber, try keeping your car under controlled afta that

too right mate....well i went ahead and had 45s slapped on the rear - the profiles lower and the car looks better for it also - but theres no rub....
the guy who fitted them told me he,s seen this so many times its unreal - some can get away with it some cant...gotta save a few bob now for the front ....Ade - this grey stripe stuff ..wot is it a spray or a compound putty -never heard of it ??
Razor the springs n shocks are P1s.....
Razor the springs n shocks are P1s.....
Odd, my mate had a 40mm drop on 205/45/16 wheels and didn't get too many problems with rubbing, and that was on PI springs :?
If you want cheap tyres, www.camskill.co.uk are a great source - Toyo T1Rs are currently on there at ?47 each.
