thats very strange.

i asked for a quote with my mum as first driver and they quoted me with no worries.

i just want to look around a little bit before choosing.

I will try Norwhich Union tomorrow as:

"Sorry the on-line quotation system is only available between the hours of 06:00 - 01:00 Mon to Sat and 06:00 - 12pm Sun."

Elephant/Admiral are good, not sure what they're like for young drivers though.

Try CIS and Tesco. Both have online quote systems.

Yep, have to agree....Tesco's are good for young drivers but what he means is ?500 under his mums name, Otherwise I think most of the UK would be with them.

that's funny, as that qoute will hold no water next time you ring.

You can't get a qoute for someone elses insurance. most companies will refuse to talk to you if your ringing up to insure a car in your sons/ someone elses name. it's just not legal.

I pay about ?450 on my mums insurance, TPFT which is good. but my mum does have very very cheap insurance on her cars.

Even if you had 11 points & under your mums name it wouldnt be that much! Try Tesco or Adrian Flux!

From my experience first time drivers, males more so, should go with Norwhich Union, Mine is a respectable ?900 FC on my 1400 SR, and when i do the same quote now (nearly 8 months on) it comes out about ?700 so im hoping it will come down when my renewal is due
