thats very strange.
i asked for a quote with my mum as first driver and they quoted me with no worries.
i just want to look around a little bit before choosing.

"Sorry the on-line quotation system is only available between the hours of 06:00 - 01:00 Mon to Sat and 06:00 - 12pm Sun."

500 is very cheap if its in your own name go with it and good luck
hmmm fronting, lovely lol
Elephant/Admiral are good, not sure what they're like for young drivers though.
Try CIS and Tesco. Both have online quote systems.

Yep, have to agree....Tesco's are good for young drivers but what he means is ?500 under his mums name, Otherwise I think most of the UK would be with them.

Well... saves having to type it myself

that's funny, as that qoute will hold no water next time you ring.
You can't get a qoute for someone elses insurance. most companies will refuse to talk to you if your ringing up to insure a car in your sons/ someone elses name. it's just not legal.
I pay about ?450 on my mums insurance, TPFT which is good. but my mum does have very very cheap insurance on her cars.
fuk me marsh man im on my moms name on a 1.2i with no mods declared as i have none lol and its still ?1400

Even if you had 11 points & under your mums name it wouldnt be that much! Try Tesco or Adrian Flux!

From my experience first time drivers, males more so, should go with Norwhich Union, Mine is a respectable ?900 FC on my 1400 SR, and when i do the same quote now (nearly 8 months on) it comes out about ?700 so im hoping it will come down when my renewal is due

mine on me 1.2 merit is ?1.300 on a provisional, an on me own insurance
on my own with a 1.2i & 3 points its ?1300, try'd it with all the mods i was planning and it came to 1900, i'm 17 btw, mods include, lowering, speedlines, gsi kit, tinted windows, exhaust and a full respray in a metal flake paint....
Is that too much?
Martin,
Sounds about right to me, maybe a little on the high side. Assuming thats in your name?
when i was 18 i paid ?770 on a modifed 1.2 nova sting (wheels, zorst, filter, lowered etc)
but then again this was with pass plus and back in the good old days of 2001/2002
Waits for Ste to post of him paying ?700 at 17 on a GTE back in 1988
