i used a inch thick stuff :D also remeber to raise it up a little as its all uneven ive still not sound proofed mine yet but gonna use cavity foam the squirty stuff dunno what to do with my spare thinking of reveresing the well :D and securing the wheel so it daint drop out
yer iv been thinking about getting one recently, are they heavy?
If you're having audio installed then go 18mm MDF.
If you're doing it to just tidy up a stripped out rear then go for much thinner material as a bulk of 18mm MDF in the back will weigh a fair amount!

Yeah i agree with that
It doesn't sound like hes bothered about weight as hes chequer plating it all :|
I used 6mm mdf when I did mine, i carpeted it too.

its just to tidy it up abit and have a motorsport theme so i want it to be quite thin
as for the checker plate i might use the vinyl type lookalike stuff
whatever you decide build a frame for it to rest on 1st. This will stop it moving about as the base of thr car aint flat. You can use them felt pads you pput on the bottom of chairs to stop it squeeking too - which it'll prob do as you go over bumps.
