Just a few update shots of me current project.
Finally got time to start cleaning things up.
Engine aby has had a coat of paint and the engines all in and running.
Rewired loom and a new fuse box to go with it.
Alot more pics to post up at a later date.
The hoses are samco blue by the way, the camera batterys were dead.
Carbon switch panel and other bits just trial fitted at minute as we need to add a few wires for other things.

the engine looks really small in the bay for some reason. It's looking great though. Is the dash connected up and working?

is that a cav shifter?

what are the advantages of doing this? also could it be coupled to a small block engine/ box?

8) the cars looking stunning mate .a real credit to ya[/img]

The dash has all the main features working.
I only wired in the vital bits i needed. The speedo is the only thing not working as yet. But some fancy bit of electrical stuff is needed for this which is being sorted by someone i hope.

The cav shifter is better than the nova shifter. But i run a straight through linkage . Which definatly improves the gear shift.

The car is now kitted out with leda front coil overs. full harry hockley kit amongst things. The interior has had a few changes made. Some more to come tbh. But those can wait till have had a drive of it! lol!

Still got quite a few things left to get sorted. But theres no rush now as its pretty much driveable. Waiting on a gsi front bumper. Vauxhall are just rip of merchants. But i might end up paying the cash just to get it.
Anyway ill get pics of the whole car pretty soon. Im sure it will look quite neat once done. :)

it "was" a cav shifter till CP modified it lol as the gearchange would be upside-down if he didnt.

you can only really use the direct linkage with a Quaife box, and a dog one prefereably, otherwise you can select 2 gears at once (not good).

my loom works, my loom works /Me does a little dance of joy lol i was sooo paranoid that it wouldnt work, but hey it does so im open for businedd for DTA/other makers ECU looming.

lovely jubly chris.

yes real big up to stu's loom! Really mint. The bloke has pulled me a blinder with it. 100 percent improvement ont he old loom.
Look forward to getting our heads together for some more techie shit when its running!!! (if anyone is thinking of having him make a loom for them then i reccomend him 100 percent ) shame i didnt get any pics of it mate before it went in the bloody car!!!

The cav shifter is actually made from 2 cav shifters lol. Cp in a moment of brainstorm decided to remodel it. F-uck knows what he did. BUt it works. And works well. Budget conversion which does the job. Saved me buying the quaife shifter. Alot of people just link up the cav shifter to the standard linkage i think. But still need a bit of messing about to get it to operate the correct way. But cp went the whole hog with his welding skills and knocked up a direct linkage!!!

does it work the same way as normal? or is it upside down?

where the dials hard to wire up?

nova---chris

thge shifter operates as normal.
ie first gear is up and and 2nd is down ect ect.

The dials were quite easy to mess with tbh
I got a wiring diagram of region 17 on mig for the vx . Then stu just tested all the wires and labeled them all up for me.
Some resistors are needed inline to make a few things operate properly. Something im going to buy today!!! lol!

Anyhow hope it answers some of your questions.
