fitting twin carbs to a nova gte engine and i am using an irmscher inlet manifold however the ports on the manifold are flat along the bottom and thus slightly bigger than the gte's head ports which are round.

how would i go about matching the ports and if i dont will i have any problems with fuel/air flow?

thanks

Tbh you'd be much better off using a proper inlet, and i have one for sale!! ?70 delivered to your door :D

It can't be done. you need a gte manifold which has round ports. if you start cutting away the head to match it to the manifold, you'll cut into the water/oil ways.

u need to match the manifold to the head by adding metal to the ports

by the time youve done that (expensive!) u may as well have just baught the correct 1600 inlet and sold the 1300 inlet on

ppl have used the irmscher manifold before though that orange nova in total vaux used it on the 1600 gte

he probably didn't bothet matching (or he spent a lot matching it) and had bad results. You loose so much power when u don't use the correct manifold.

you'll never get them to match!

like snowface and aragon said it will just cost way to much to add metal to the manifold. and you just couldn't take that much from the head.

are the ports on the nova e16se different to the nova c16se?

Me & Aragorn had a chat about the same thing not so long ago. My friend has a GSi & he is using the irmscher manifold off a 1300sr he got from the scrapyard. It has always ran ok.
Although Aragorn told me that there are other long term effects such as fuel leaking & could leak down onto the pistons, causing them to melt! or crack at the least!
I would say why would they manufacturer a 1600 manifold if you could use the 1300?
Id buy the proper manifold just incase mate.
