Could fail on emissions though....?

My J plate was from Feb '92 and didn't require a cat.

I dont think you actually need to have one for the MOT, it's just the emmissions may not be low enough for the test.

My evo has just gone through it's MOT without a CAT and it passed no problem, that is an x reg 2001 car.

Just read this:

The catalyst test is part of the MOT test for most class IV spark ignition petrol engined passenger cars with four or more wheels first used on and after 1 August 1992.
As Will said, its Aug 92 >. Ok, so its part of the test - but the guide doesn't say what to do if the cat has been removed (assuming the emissions are Ok sans-cat).

Wonder if you could get around it by taking a wheel off, as it says cars with four or more wheels....

hes said his car is a J plate which means its pre-August 92

he doesnt need a cat and car will be run on the standard 3.5% CO and 1200ppm HC test
