steering column removal

Hi lads could i have a simple explanation of how to remove the steering column from a MK1 GTE, i have removed the shear bolts on the upper clamp and just need to disconnect it from the rack end, but cant find my trusty haynes! thanks in advance sound

As the column goes down between the pedals to the flex joint there's a 10mm bolt. Undo and remove this completely, you can then pull it free of the car.
