With credit card bills soring! i thought id best get off my arse amd may some extra cash.

So i picked up this corsa gsi, it is mint! i was quite surprised how good it was when i picked it up. The engine was shot, so ive picked up a cav sri 16v, which im going to be using engine, box, and brakes.

so far ive removed the old engine and cleaned the bay up ready for the new engine.

Should be quite a mint valver corsa by next weekend.

What was wrong with the 1.6 16v?
If it's a easy enough repair then get it on a engine stand and sell it for a few more hundred quid!

The car is worth alot more as a 2l 16v than it is as a 1.6, and as im only doing it to make money this is the best option.

The convertion including the engine etc is going to cost me about ?250.

I mean put the XE in the Corsa but also fix up the 1.6 16v lump and sell that seperately to someone who wants it for a Nova - always someone wanting one.

Ahh, see what you mean.

Yeah that would be worth doing, the head has got bent valves so just a case of replacing them which isnt to bad.

Maybe i could find a nova to put it in to :D

just the same as they look in a nova bay really lol

you not going to bother welding the corsa up ? or do they not really need it

dont think they need it do they. dont know what driveshafts you have to use tho as its wider than a nova.

deffo worth selling the engine as they are very good and desirable engines. can never get hold of one here in plymouth

No im not going to bother welding it, as they are strong enough.

Im using the standard shafts with the mk2 cav cv joints.

only real cost is the mounts as im going to keep the power steering.

Just collected the cav donar car, its pretty good, engine runs real smooth and pulls quite well.

Not bad for ?100 :D

they look nothing like an xe in a nova bay  they look alot more cramped and imo dont look as good in a corsa

and no they dont need welding nor does a nova realy with a std 16v
