Cormac, might be wrong, but I think thats Rick's old intercooler (lol @ old, the car did about a mile with it on!) and was made up to Rick's specs. Can't remember if it was Pace or Forge that made it up though, think it was Forge, personally I'd use Radtec.

well had some hassle fitting the rad a sec ago. got to add 2-3 inches onto the actuator and mod the mount. doing this gives loads of room :D

Mart, im using a garret T3, if you are also, then by extending the -31 actuator push rod, and re mounting the body past the turbo id say it gives over an 1" of extra space! loads! i can even fit a nice fan set up in now! :D
hows your car coming along m8?!

the prep of the engine is as follows;c20let, 2049cc, full re- build inc every gasket and every bearing!, garret t3 turbo from a 2wd sapphire cosworth with hybrid blades and polished compressor housing, -31 actuator, apex stainless tubular manifold for a nissan s14 re flanged to suit, autronic mappable sm2 manegment inc launch, traction and anti lag control, worked coscast head, custom over sized flowed top hat tapped for inlet temp and boost, accralite low comp, oversized forged pistons, bosch 363 injectors, xe inlet camshaft, piper vernier pulleys, sbd steel valve spring caps, sbd valve springs, walbro fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator set to 3.5 bar, sytec alloy filter, moquip 8mm braided fuel line with 8mm jic fittings, arp rod bolts, commetic 1.9mm kevlar head gasket, forge motorsport custom FM intercooler to my own design, f28 box with quafe atb lsd, helix competition clutch with organic plate, gen gasket kits, boost/water silicon hose kit with mikalor stainless hose clips, bailey dump valve, blitz induction kit, cool running thermostat, xe oil pressure sender, new gm lambda probe

that is an awesome spec dan, its gonna be a trackday monster!

I really really like the overall look of the car, did you make the front bumper yourself? If you did then again, very impressed.

Keep up the good work and hope its ready for the summer.

Crikey Dan - its going to be a lively fella :o :o :o
That is an excellent spec you have there - as much about reliability as it is performance which is the right approach!

I will (one day!) be running a standard turbo, might still be worth a look though as the actuator takes up a couple of inches of room on the kkk too I think.
Mine is coming along nicely at the moment, just in the middle of doing all the welding up front and stripping underseal  Just going for standard spec to start with, its fully rebuit with all new gaskets..etc - maybe i'll fit a phase 2 chip but that will be enough for me. I am used to a 1.4 after all!!!! Got myself a 6 speed box & quaiffe diff and Helix paddle clutch & cover like yours so it should be reliable.

As stated above great spec. It realy will be a impressive show/track weapon!! And the FMIC looks very much at home in that bumper.

Mart i cant ever believe yours was a 1.4  , when i saw it at png shows etc i assumed it was a 16v :D love the car btw looks spot on! dam low at the rear also!
with the kkk just move the rad to the center and forward, youll have loads of room m8!

taa for all the comments! and i dont think ill take this car on the track only for pod use! :D

LOL - yes it was just an SRI mate, cheers for the kind comments!!

Any idea what my chances are of getting a bigish intercooler behind my standard bumper, planning on sendingthe car to Pro-alloy or radtech for a read/cooler combo but boy is it going to be tight :? Never to this day seen a LET nova with the standard mk2 nova bumper fitted.

It's gonna be a 1st people.......lol

If you can't see it, then air can't get to it, and whats the point in that? :?

Can you see the intercooler on a escort cosworth, sapphire, Calibra turbo, 20v golfs ??? No you cant, the vent across the front of a Gsi or Sri bumper is fine for an engine running standard power imo, it channels air in & up to the rad as standard!

Dan - Any pics & other info you could email me would be superb - Cheers!! I am going for the stealth look as you said, I want the car to look exactly the same as it did from the outside.

Chris_W

Well bare alot of thought on the thickness, because you don't want to over heat the rad aswell, better invest in a couple of SPAL fans to drag the air through the rad/intercooler combo. If you want a stealth install from the outside why don't you use a chargecooler? then you just put a slim rad infront of the existing rad, and an additonal water pump, job done, and it'll probably be a fair bit more efficient than the intercooler in the location your talking of.

Chris what you are forgeting is the the bottom of a gsi bumper mouth is curved and will direct air straight onto the fmic! 8)
plenty of rad left on show for cooling aswell!
Mart ill dig the pics and size out 2nite! :D
