its stamped on the edge of the engine that mates with the gearbox

running down the edge vertically

there are only X16XE and C16XE's i think

the only difference is a slight change in HP due to the X and C being a Different Emmisions Band.

Yeah there the two engines the x16xe is the one thats down on power by 5bhp due to emissions but the x16xe is easier to insure due to it not coming from the gsi and due to coming from the sport.
I think the difference for the two engines on my insurance quote was something like 300 quid so u could live with 5bhp less with that sort of saving.
Plus dont quote me but i think the c16xe had a habit of destroying pulleys and killing the engine. I think?

An insurance quote at 16? For a modified car?

And... All vauxhall engines, like many other engine are prone to destroying pulley's and cambelts if not replaced regulary and driven hard

no i said i was 17 on my dads insurance. Just nice to know how bad it is to insure some cars.

hmm gsi conversion at 19 is 1.7k lol

anyway, here's the difference in emisions

C EC 91/441/EEC, US ' 83
X EC 91/441/EEC, stage 2#

the X16XE has a crappy plastic looking inlet IIRC and does have about 5bhp less

Ditch the Inlet for a Aftermarket one, and on both models you'd see a heft 20bhp (max) increase as they were very restrictive

what about the E16SE then?

Corsa gsi standard on my dads insurance hes 50 full no claims me 17 and a half. In the garage 2400 quid.
Corsa Sport Standard 2100 quid.
See the difference its still scary tho.
Nova gsi standard same as above in January this year 2100quid c thats y i sold it.
My quote for the nova gsi in September last year 1300 quid as the same as above. Couldnt believe the insurance price increase and was gutted that i had to sell the gsi.

The Insurance price is so high because you have 0 years driving experience and wanted to insure a highly desirable and powerful car

if your asking what it is...

E - ECE R 83 A (as R 15.04) 16 - 1.6 S - > 9.5 to 10.0 E - Multi-point Fuel
Injection

i take it you knew the 16SE bit

Aragorn

Rob-16v
20-03-05, 11:05 PM

Aragorn
21-03-05, 10:36 AM
c and x16xe have the same inlet (bar one having a plastic top part and one being metal

x16XEL has a different inlet afaik

Got told be a vaux mechanic the the smaller plastic inlet is better, he sed it expands more? anyone heard of that?

ideally you want to get rid of the inlet on any of the 1.6 16v's as they are crap.

throttle bodies are not an option as yet, 3 or 4 months.
