My Bro's got a Scooby WRX STi prodrive and was gettin quotes of over ?2k... privelige ?603 fully comp! I went with em and saved a packet i was paying about ?800 3pft

If youve got 4 years no claims and you go with them they'll give you automatic protected no claims so you'll never lose them agen!

Not strictly true, protected usually just reduces the hike if you do have to claim, especially if you claim more than once - and only usually if you stay with that company. Switching to another company usually nulls the fact you have protected NCB. You're thinking of Guaranteed NCB...

Who were you with to be paying ?800tpft on an SRi at 25? Sounds awful expensive to me :?

i am also with the priv, all mods declared, points and ban also.
thinking of swapping, but must admit. never had bad service from them once, so might not bother. been with them now for 5 years.

Problem with direct is the policys are usually rubbish. And, in the event of something going wrong - who is going to stand up for you? You will have the might of Privilidge or Tesco's against little you.

Brokers are there for the public, direct companies dont give too hoots. Yes brokers make money, but at least they employ people who know what there on about, you tend to get the same answer from all members of staff (someone mentioned this in another post about staff in direct companies- one says dont do mods, call again and suddenly they do!). And if something goes wrong (insurer says you did not declare mods, the broker will tell them where to jump off and say that you did (the broker records the calls), then the insurer backs down.

If privilidge do that to you and ask for another ?500 for the mods before they pay out for your claim, who you gonna run to? Your mum?

We are in too much of a "cheap is king" culture these days. And I know insurance is expensive, I have to pay it too. But get the 5,000,000 uninsured twa*s off the road and see how much your premium drops then. If people would stop claiming ?1500 - ?2000 for whiplash that does not exist cos they got hit at 2 mph. All this screws the insurer pot of money, and how do they fill it up again? Muggins like you and me have to pay more. And all cos of the few selfish bastards out there.

Rant over. :)

the only reason people are claiming money for whiplash is because of the american sociaty has come across here.
its easy money so people do it.
thats why americans are all fat and lazy.
why get a job when you can fall off a kerb and sue the government.

as for the priveledge, i found that i have told them of all mods and ask them to repeat what you have declared.
also make sure that when certifacate arrives, make sure ll mods are on there, and then ring them again to say you forgot a mod. that way they read back what you declared, from a different employee.

Agreed, not all BIG brokers train their staff well in anything other than insurance. But I am sure that you guys will agree that we need to know about more than just insurance.

We get loads of people who say "oh, I have a full exhaust system fitted". So we check that it includes them manifold, downpipe, cat etc. most of them just go "oh, no its just a backbox"!!!! How is that a full exhaust system! If I just took their word for it, then their insurance would be that little bit higher cos they misinformed my, so I ask more questions.

Good bit of advice from my previous dealings, is that small brokers and companies are more willing to put themselves out for you. They work harder for the clients that they have. Rates may be ?10 - ?20 more at times, but with my exoeriences with claims in the past - I pay that every time. I could get my car insurance ?200 cheaper with a direct company, but I know the value of a good broker! Maybe thats cos I do have "inside info" but, experience may also make some of you realise as well. Only time will tell!

What about convictions then? Its all well and good that you specialise in mods but what about us "high risk" drivers?

Sharp Insurance

My "worst" client has 13 convictions in total, and about 5 bans. We have insurers that will look at it. But obviously points dont make prizes!
