4p extra on wine - Neither here nor there
1p on beer - Same as above
Frozen tax on spirits - Same
Frozen petrol - Good news and long overdue
Stamp duty threshold doubled from 60K-120K - Excellent news for first time buyers - 2 years too late for me though!!
Cigarettes 7p extra - Good, the less people that smoke the better imo
Single parents - 2K for returning to work - Good idea in principle but there must be clause's to it.

Hmm... its a good incentive to get them back to work, and thus stop claiming other benefits...

This budget has done nothing for me and does nothing for any individuals. Scroungers, undeserved youths and people with kids they can't support score again.

Nice one Gordo.

I suppose i don't know the in's and out's of it, but i feel its just incouraging some people to go back to work, claim their 2K and then decide they like staying at home again!! I suppose there must be regulations in place to stop that happening though. Well, you'd hope so anyway........

stamp duty threshold is...

When you buy a house, you have to pay Stamp duty...

To make it easier for first time buyers to buy a first home, all homes under ?60k had their stamp duty paid.

but seeing that it was a while back, when you could buy a house for 60k, it's not much use now.

now putting it up to ?120k, it means that first time buyers (in theory) will now get their stamp duty paid again...

unfortunatly, as camb said, you can get naff all for under ?120k, it needs to be a lot higher.

the government will find some way to rob you of more money to pay for people who dont want to work and sponge off mine and yours hard days wages

Jack
16-03-05, 07:14 PM
I think in terms of petrol and road tax, it should be one or the other.... its like you're paying twice to use the roads. Three times if you count road tolls!

Nick
16-03-05, 07:49 PM
they should toll the motorways and be done wiht road Tax

france works perfectly well, and they have sutnning roads

the roads round my way are never repaired, so why should i pay road tax for roads i don't even get to use ?

Riggy
16-03-05, 08:23 PM
lol you should see the roads in my side of manchester lol ask sean hehehe

ive poped the oilseals on my coilovers due to them (i wonder if i could claim of the council for not keeping the roads up to a good std)

The stamp duty one is pritty good, but there isnt many mortgage companies that will give a mortgage anywhere near that price to most people.

LOL

every single mortgage comapny will give you a mortgage for under ?120k lol

you just have to find a sub ?120k house, which is easy to do if you wanna live in a rougher part of town.

A mortgage company will give you a mortgage for ?50 if you really wanted

other countries don't have the tax on pertol we do and still have better roads than the uk
