When fitting my new gsi rear seats yesterday i noticed that there isnt any centre fixing brackets for the split rear seats... my car came with the rear seats removed so i couldnt look to see what was there before but im asuming the seats wernt split ones.. The cars a 1993 1.2 expression
Im just wondering other than welding brackets in wat did you guys do to get round this problem...

I think the only way is too get down the scrappy and grind a section off a nova that has a split rear bench mate..

I have another nova here with a split bench but dnt really want to start cutting and grinding,, is there any way round it?
only other way really is to get a solid rear bench and re trim it with the gsi covers
aragorn has a saloon and he didnt have any seat mounts at all - we welded some in place.
As for the centre support, I was the same when I fitted my GSi interior into my 1.2 merit.
I used 2 old metal fence brackets that were basically U shaped. See below for the pic - its easier to draw than explain.
I basically bolted one end to the spare wheel well (be careful when drilling holes as petrol tank is near by) and the other rounded bit I slotted around the 2 lugs on the seats. They held firm. You need to adjust it a little to ensure the seats fold flat.

mine squeeked a little so I just wrapped some electric tape round the lugs - no more squeeks!

find a car with split folding seats
remove the bolt holding the seat belts on and the bracket will be loose at one side
u can either chisel off the welds, or just repeatedly bend it backwards and forwards till the metal fatigues and it comes off
this will then need welded onto your car
everything else will line up but u will need the metal supports that hold the side parts in as they are also different on split folding seats
