Liverpool Victoria-"We don't cover any modifications." I thought they did? I thought a load of peeps on here are with them?

Anywho, barely ANYONE wanted to know about my gsi. One bloke couldn't believe it when i said it was lowered 80mm  He thought i had cut the springs. He was a fucking tosser though

BUT, good old Adrian flux quoted me ?733 TPFT with absolutely everything declared (20 yrs old, 2 years NCB). So i think i'll go with that.

I do hate insurance companies  Makes me laugh really that i can get insured on a 2.5 V6 Vectra for cheaper

A lot of companies are shying away from modified cars now. Probably find tho if you'd rang LV again 5 minutes later they would have insured you

Insurance is based a lot on stereotypes.... having a modified car means you'll be ragging it thru town at 90mph and its unsafe as it will have lots of bits glued on, no matter if its a perfectly polished and lovingly restored example. Of course to drive a vectra, well that makes you a repsectable old man who never goes over 65....

Have you tried HIC?

dunova

Funny you should say that, because Flux were the ONLY company to ask me if i were a member of any enthusiast groups, and yes i answered proudly back with Novaload  Also migweb, and tbh its too bloody right that they should ask you if you're a member of any clubs/groups, as they're trying to get an idea of how you drive! Although, by the sounds of some of the other insurance posts i'm not too sure that EVERYONE on here's drives decently :|

Haven't tried HIC, but i'll give them a go. Not sure they'll beat flux though.....

PS, why would have LV insured me 5mins later???

Its my experience that it depends who you talk to. One minute your being told that it cant be done, then you ring up again and talk to someone else and it can???????????
Unfortunately, however the reverse is also true so whenever you ring up ALWAYS get the name of the person you're talking to.

Also HIC apparently give a discount to MIG club members

Just been on hold to HIC for 10 mins, [extreme sarcasm] listening to some GREAT music [/extreme sarcasm]. Hence why i hung up. Not a good start HIC!!! Get your act together!!!

Lol, I worked in a call centre before, Probably loads of agents on break or sitting in idle. Best thing to do is start dropping calls after 30 seconds. Im sure they will get the agents back on the phones sharpish. I know I used to.
Chances are you will have the supervisors on too, to deal with the "Increase" in call volume.

Also Tesco insurance said they wouldnt insure the twin 40's, Called back 2 hours later & they said no problem! WEIRD!
I think it depends on if theres somebody monitoring there calls-Then they will help you & call you sir as opposed to mate, & do there job & quote you happy! Most of em cant be bothered to help.

Yeah... HIC seem to have gone down the pan when it comes to answering the phone. I spent 4 days trying to ring them, 2-3 times a day, didn't get through once, even after being on hold for 20-30 mins at a time (work phone hehe)

Rang Admiral. Didn't even have to wait to speak to a guy.

Guess who my insurance is with now?

Actually that reminds me.... HIC owe me some money! Blimey, forgot about that!!

dunova
15-03-05, 04:08 PM
You're with admiral?? :o I didn't think they 'catered' for such *cough* sh!t *cough* cars?!

Don't think i'm going to waste my time trying to call HIC then. ?733 fully declared will do me.

Probably loads of agents on break or sitting in idle.

Tbh if i worked in a call centre i probably wouldn't give a fuck, although don't they get commision on sales?

Bear in mind what car I drive

hehe... living in Yeovil, I know a lot of people that work for Screwfix in the call centre. Its considered to be just under McDonalds in terms of employee potential... walk in the call centre and its like a sea of chavs!

Very good point,i carnt see a standard GSi being anymore then ?900 at 19,your better of buying a GSi then insuring it as a conversion.

Guys,

I run Sharp Insurance, we set up to specialise in Modified cards young drivers etc. Can do most things, obviously cant guarantee we will always be the cheapest, but I will give it a damn good shot!

One thing that you can guarantee is that we know about mods. There are only 4 of us specialising in mods (one is a newish lass, so she is still learning, but doing well!!) we know all about it, have done it etc, and you might find that you get good service! Now that would make a change!

Only posted cos I noticed that we were listed on your list of insurers worth calling - if any of you call, then when they ask where you got our number from just say Novaload website, and they will refer your quote to me, and I will try my best for you guys. But we are 19+ I am afraid :(.

Hope to hear from you - website (which is having a bit of a revamp at the moment, so not all info is there) www.sharpinsurance.co.uk, sales number 0800 328 1545.

P.S - I am thinking of doing a section on our site about cars that we insure, obviously clients only, but if any of you do insure, and fancy a pic going on the site - or maybe into the adverts in Fast Car, Max Power etc, then I can look into it some more. Always nice for you to show off the motor, and good for us as poeple get to see what sort of things that we insure!!

Cheers guys.

Sharp.

No offence matey... But max power, fast car etc :S

Not a lot of True car enth's read that tat anymore but i guess its all custom to your company.

So whats being read now then?

We still get hundreds of calls from it!

Sadly, dont get much time to go out to track days etc now, so I may be falling a bit behind!

Dunno to be honest matey, I gave up reading mags like that about 3 years ago when it was overrun with bodykits and the like.

I usually read things like PPC, Golf+, Performance Golf etc. If your still getting loads of calls thats wicked. I really thought those mags were struggling for buyers judging by all the free tat they give you. Didnt Rev's recently go pop?

ohh an insuance company posting here, nice.

ill be in contact later ;)

Sharp Insurance

Dunno,

Its owned by EMAP Automotive (same as Max Power and a few other blokes mags), so they may have pulled the plug, but not that I have heard.

Used to advertise there, but that really was tat!

I really want the people who do this cos they live for it. Those who's cars are a pride and joy. No point me insuring the idiots who think they are Michael Schumacher and smash there cars up - if you know what I mean!

As I said happy to try for all of you. I hate these big companies that give crud service etc. I wont even deal with Norwich Union anymore cos they ship everything to India. Thats some british blokes job they are giving away by the thousand!

At the end of the day, I am only 24, so I am not one of these 50 yr old blokes that doesnt have a clue and just sits back and watches the ???'s rolling in, and does anything to cut service to make a few more. I answer the phones, I talk to people with modded cars etc. I think with cars like yours, you need a peosonal service, and a decent prce to match. Thats why I posted!

You sound like a pretty sounds bloke mate. My insurance renewal date is going to be in july and I'll try you Although i'm not sure what nova it will be on lol.

I wish all companys were run by people who were involved within or actually cared about the cars they insure. Sayin that, at the end of the day everybodys out to make cash

Sharp Insurance

Yea, I am not charity thats for sure! But, I could have chosen to do "safe risks", 40 yr olds on 1800cc Mondeos with full NCB. Could sell em all day and make a packet.

But thats boring! I like nice cars, I would go as far as to say I love cars! Thats why I do it.

I must admit, I am thinking about starting an 'upmarket' modifying internet site. No tat, all just decent well made stuff. Still only thinking about it really, no solid plans yet. But I get well fed up going through some mags/shops/internet sites and seeing the crap that they sell! Some look like it will fall apart after about 3 speed humps! What happened to the good old days of all your parts looking good, and being well made? Too many 50 year old directors looking to make a load a money by producing cr*p for nice cars. Really should be illegal!
