Had a very lucky escape today. I was on my way to work this at half 5 morning, it was just getting light and I went round a corner then all of a sudden this stupid pheasant comes running across the road....

Well, if I didnt have my Kingdom front bumper on I would normally aim for the poor thing but when you have a couple of hundreds quids worth of a flimsy low bumper on the front you try and AVOID it lol.

Well it was too late for avoiding it so I just braced myself, hit it, lol then watched as it bounced off the front of the car, hit the windscreen then bounced over the roof lol. Couldn't help laughing cos it looked funny as fook.

Checked my bumper, thinking the worst, but it was fine, PHEW! So just went back and chucked the pheasent off the road so nobody else had an accident.

I've had two bird incedents.

1) Going down a road early in the morning in my 306 at an undiscolsed speed  and a little tiny bird flew in front of the car. I didn't break or anything, I just looked in the mirror and I swear I could see a little ring of feathers. Made me laugh.

2) Just moseying along in the 306 again when a pigeon flew across the road right at my front wheel. I broke (slightly) and it hit the car, bounced off and flew away. I pulled over and it had left a line of snot on my wing. Those pigeons are right vandals! Was a bit extreme just to get rid of a bit o snot.

Another time i was in my old fiesta xr2i (yes it was running)
And i was going quite quick, rounded this bend (know the road weel as its on the way i used to work) and i saw four or more duves in the road,a few flew off as they saw me but one stoped still, and he got it good,i looked my my rear view to see a huge cloud of feathers,it looked like someone just emptyed a pilow..it riped me spliter off and smashed my numberplate,i was going to quick to swerve etc, funny thing was when i got to work,i noticed that the remains of its head wer stuck to my rear beam..nice

Should have gone back and picked up the pheasant, they cook up quite well

I had an "experience" with a badger once - ended up going though a ditch, hedge, fence and landed grounded on a small mound in another hedge with all four wheels off the floor and a very dented front end... missed putting the radiator into the block by about half an inch :o

I have only hit two birds. First I was in an Escort Van and it just flew out of some bushes, I didnt even see it, but it made a nice bang. The second I was in my old GTE at a very high speed with a lad in a Cavalier GSi 'following', hit a pheasant, it smashed the front number plate and grill, bounced over the car and landed on the front screen of the GSi behind me. I looked in my mirror to see him slam the brakes on and stop, saw him in the pub a couple of weeks after and found out it shattered the screen. OOPS

I've hit loads of things before but the worst was a Fox.

I was doing about 75ish down a dual carriage way and the bloody thing ran out in front. It stopped then turned round to run back the way it came but must have shit itself because it did an about turn and ran back towards my car. I braked slightly (didnt want to brake too hard as I didnt wanna stuff it into a hedge or tree) and I heard a thump from somewhere towards the back.

No damage at all. I reckon it must have caught its head between my wheel and rear arch.

i can remember when i was younger me and me mum were drving thru town and a dog ran out an alley way into the side of the car, it ran off fine but left a great big dent in the side of the door. Shame cuz it was a mint astra GTE. had to get another door iirc

Why DO animals do that?!? I've hit loads of things - rabbits, squirrels, mice, small children - all because they run across, then stop and put their head under my wheel!! If they just carried on in a straight line they'd be ok! Must have a deathwish...

ALL of my female friends hate my views on small children. I believe that they are expendable and are not people until they reach the age of 10.

I had the same thing with a weasel, I was drivin down the road quite slow and I seen him run out so I slowed down and went to the left into the cycle lane (would rather get a cyclist than a weasel) and the stupid thing ran back across the road stright into the path of my 16" rim. It was like hitting a massive rock, the whole right hand side my car lifted up!

To make things worse I was on my mobile at the time, the poor little sod!

8)

Also I seen some dumb arse pheasant get had on the by pass, must admit it was quite comical the way it exploded! feathers everywhere

i was going a good 60mph (on a 60mph road) on my way to 6th form a few years ago...

went round a corner, and there was a WoodPartridge (tiny bit smaller than a pheseant) flying down the road, towards my car.. Adding the speeds together i'd say it was a good 85-90mph collision

anyway, luckily it avoided my windscree, my bumper, my bonnet but decided to plump for my grill..

it got it's head mashed over the radiator and i couldn't pull it out, so i drove to school doing copious amounts of emergency breaking, and it wouldn't come out

left it's arse sticking out of my grill allday, and when i returned it had gone !? who knows where it went ?

LOL quite a few stories, at this rate there wont be much wildlife left!

I've hit a couple of other things aswell

1. I was on my way back from college one day when a Wood Pigeon was stood in the middle of the road. It just stood there untill I was really close then I could just see over my bonnet that it started flying away. Stupid thing flew off in the same direction as me and it got a nice boot up the a*** before changing direction lol.

2. A cat friend's was crouched under a parked car, as I drove past it decided to make a run for it... Sadly it didnt time its run very well and I flattened it right down the middle. Stopped and got out and it was trying to roll about making a horrible noise. I felt well bad about it, made it worse that I had to go and tell my mates little brother whos cat it was :(

3. Was going home one day late at night, flying down the road I could just make out something lying in the road then BUMP. I nearly took off. First thing I checked is that my wheels were ok then as you do I went back and had a look. Only a fooking great badger laid there lol, that was a lucky one.

Anymore animal slayin' stories????

i think my cars a homin beacon for fcukn wildlife.
last year when i was drivin down a country road a rabbit ran out, always being told its dangerous to brake for any small animal i just mowed over it.(my bumpers like an axe). my two m8s screamed after hearing the crunch but before they could moan another one ran out and dito.
there's been two other rabbits since then.

while in devon a swail was in the middle of the road.seem'n i was only doin 10m/hr i thought i would give it a chance and let it get out of the way. for a quarter of a mile the thing kept runin from side to side of the road.i thought fcuk it and floored it.

i hit a pheasent in my parents car last month, i couldn't see any damage but then the next day my dad noticed the hinges on the headlight were broken. i just blamed it on my mum

in the past two weeks (the time the car has been finished) one fox has ran out in front of me and two badgers(both together). i i broke for them though.

i've only been drivin 9 months :o

however much i try to avoid this, i must hit a rabbit every other day, a friend of mine owns a farm and is absolutly infested with rabbits around his roads, his dad gives us 50p for every rabbit one of us gets rid off. Although i try to avoid them, there's just so many that it's bound to happen everytime i go down..

one time i was following a dumper lorry (hauls clay/stone etc) when i could see a cock pheasant chasing another cock pheasant down the bank and the front 1 went straight under the rear wheels of the lorry  .

Dumbass animals!

i've only hit 3 birds. All of them by accident.

2 wood pigeons , 1 i saw at last minute at dark in middle of raod, braked but ended up with feathers in grill (must have killed it).

the other pigeon was at dawn, i started to slow down to give it time to get out of the way, at the last minute it decided to make a nest in my bumper lol.

The other bird was a small sparrow or something. It was on the main road doing 60ish and it flew accross the road and into my windscreen, looked in rear view and saw it bouncing along road. :?

lol, this 1 time on the way to college on the bus i heard this loud bang, it was as windy as fook that morning. When i went to get off bus i saw the side window behind the driver had a load of blood on it the size of a CD!The bird must of been travelling at hell of a speed to do that to the side of the bus, lol.

well i used to be in charge of sending one of the brands of food out to the game farmers who bread the pheasants in the first place :D
i've hit 3 pheasants all in nova's, had no damage to the car at all and i've also watched an escort driver's bumper be ripped apart as he hit one
