Hello...
Started this in May last year!, originally intended to get it done over summer, unfortunately things are never that simple, thanks to work, weather and life in general things are only now beginning to settle

Started off with very basic 1.0 Nova, in very clean condition (bought off GF for ?200)

Lose the hair dryer

Sand Blast the areas to be?

?welded
http://members.lycos.co.uk/loggyboy/nilly/10WeldedBay640.jpg

Strip out a late dispak 2.8 motronic XE from a ?200 Cavalier SRi
http://members.lycos.co.uk/loggyboy/nilly/13StrippingCavvy640.jpg

pop it in the place god intended
http://members.lycos.co.uk/loggyboy/nilly/20EngineIn640.jpg

Also strip out the dash and interior
http://members.lycos.co.uk/loggyboy/nilly/06StrippedDash640.jpg

Replace with Gsi dash, Sri front seats and a Cav shifter/linkage

And there we have the finish aricle, just needs its MoT (failed on beam alignent, lack of washer jet, split pins in hub nuts and a few other minor gay mistakes)
Then its off to get insurance and Tax. Should be out ready to play in a few weeks/months (depending on pay packets!

The whole project has cost between ?800-1000 - including cost of car but not including moneys made back from selling off unused parts (which wasnt much anyway!)

Bargain :D

I reckon switch the alloys for some standard vaux 15" and it'll look even more subtle 8)

Indeed dan... tadley IIRC.. hows the switch holding up?? ;)

oh yeah forgot to mention... its currently running gsi alloys at the back (to get it ready for MoT, obviously the fronts wont fit over the brakes, so im unsure... either 14/15" steels or the 15" Cav SRi fan alloys i have, probly refurbed in a different colour (anthrcite or similar)

Looks cool, I like it. Quick question, what advantage will you get from using the Cav gear shifter?

Yeh its still going strong mate - i got myself a GSi dashboard that came with a hazard switch, used that for a week and it broke lol so went back to your unbreakable one

Cav linkage gives better feel and the 'pivot point' is higher so gives a shorter throw - quickshift style.
also cleans up trans tunnel to allow easy routing of the exhaust

was it a direct replacement and all the linkage bolts straight up to it?

Chris

the cavvy fan wheels will look good on it.

Chris

theoretically yes.
but in practice no
it needs to be cut thru the bluk head like so:
http://members.lycos.co.uk/loggyboy/nilly/27CavLinkage1.jpg

Then you have 2 choices either cut off the end of the cav shaft and weld the end of the nova on to it allow it to fit the 'link' in the engine bay, or grind, chop and modify the cav shaft to fit it. (which is what i did) - doing it that way also means tipping the gearstick 'frame' forwardslightly (as you can see in the pic above)
