Help needed pleeeease.....

Right, today we finally managed to try and get my car started as everything was done and sorted.
But (there's always a but!), it wont start. Not good. Its a 1600 GSi lump running on Twin 40s. It will crank over but won't physically fire up. There is plenty of fuel getting through as the spark plugs are wet with fuel and we have a spark in all 4! Its also turning over rather slow (not sure if this is an issue but hey) possibly due to flooding.
So if anyone has any advice/help/comments, anything would be great.
Oh, its practically a brand new engine as all the internals have been refurbed.

The slow engine could very well be a bad earth, something so simple can cause havoc. Check the one on the gearbox has a good clean earth and the one on the alternator for starters.

i take it your running an sr dizzy?

to get it running not so much of an issue, at least not on the gte variant, i ran mine for over 12months using the standard gte setup until the 1.4sr stuff went on. Only biggest draw back was the 20bhp i was being robbed of, although depending on his spec it wouldnt be as detrimental.
