the fuel pump relay on my xe is constantly buzzing! the car starts fine and runs without problems but when you turn the car off the relay starts buzzing intermitantly

any ideas of a cause and how 2 fix it?

You sure it ain't the fuel pump making the noise.
When you turn the ignition on you should hear a buzzing noise, which is the pump priming the engine.
It will buzz slightly whilst its running as well.

stupid obvious answer but

have you tried changing the relay and does it still make the noise then

if it does im sure phil and his hammer could cure it lol :lol:

just dont use any flames :wink:

it should not buzz audiably

worn out relays tend to buzz (this is normally the contacts opening and shutting rapidly due to the coil being worn and too weak to hold it closed)
and will get very hot as the coil overheats

the relay should get warm but certainly not too hot to touch

cheers for the replies,

the relay does get warm after a while, i'll try and get one tomorow and try that.

phils hammer wont sort anything out
