the 1300 as its 2bhp less then the 1400 and (i think) 2 insurance groups less

Fantastic, thanks. you can do more head work to a 1300 as the 1400s are kinda restrictive, so ive been told.

The 1300 is better, it has nice and roundish shaped ports, increasing air/fuel mixture in, and exhaust gases out.
The 1400 has different shaped ports, which impede gas flows.
Get the 1300.

aint no replacement for displacement ;)

u can easily fit a 1300 or 1200 head to the 1400 later and the 1400 is bigger engine and therefore more tunable

i agree with aragorn but as baxter said it is two insurence groups cheaper

yeah definatly get both, then combine the 1.4 block with the 1.3 gearbox and the 1.3 head with the 1.4 inlet manifold and carb, then your car will go like stink

1.3 inlet manifold and carb re-jetted. 1.4 Fannymould won't fit the 1.3 head.

the 1.4 fannymold will fit, just its a fcuking waste of time as you will gain naff all due to the restriction and odd port shape changes.

2 insurance groups isn't going to mean much when you start tuning the engine, the insurance company will still whack a great premium on.

don't forget to use the 1.4 cam and ignition.

should see 75-80bhp i reckon. perhaps a tad more.

well use the 1.3 inlet with the 1.4 carb, and use the 1.4 cams in the 1.3 head
