what is the max indicated speed or reall speed lol

when i had my 1.2 engine it indicated 112 ish on analog clocks but then once i fitted the digi dash it would go beyond 98

reckon just under 100 would be the realistic "real" speed...

but we all know the "official" figures and haynes manuals are a little conservative, my old 1.4sr used to do 120mph with just a back box on

boredbloke

I think somehow ur clocks may have been out??

theres no way u could gain 20mph witha back box alone.

Everyone knows that nova clocks are the most inaccurate things in the world!

What gearbox does it have? And what engine?

My saloon (12ST 4spd) would struggle to accelerate to 60 in under 15 seconds and top around 95-100mph (so probably around 85 lol).... where as the hatch (12NV 4spd) would hit an *indicated* 115 - probably just over a ton in reality - but also get up to 60 a good few seconds quicker. And no, that boot doesn't weigh as much as you'd think

i had my bros 1.2i down hill on the m6 showing 125mph

using gearbox calculator and the fact it was doing 5600rpm tells me that was actually 103 mph

pretty damn good for 45bhp and 2 up

was a very very loong and quite steep hill tho

Well i showed 117 on the digi dials in a 1.2 carb, with 2 people in. it was a very long hill though and felt like it could break up at any second...

hmm...rev limiter??
i had around 127mph out of my gsi. it wont go any quicker; hills or mountains - it was bouncing off the limiter in fifth..no more revs available. only a chip/raising limiter might allow more..

when manufacturers test car's top speeds they don't do it down hill! lol.

You could throw a car with no engine down a mountain in and say it did 150mph.

if you are going to do top speedsthen do a downhill run first, then turn around and do it uphill top speed.

Then average the two.

then come on here and say your (average) top speed.

same applies on a flat bit of road.

Go 1 way, then turn around and do the other and average it.

ah who cares about top speed. you can only do 70 anyway :op

i like the fact my car shifts into top gear at 125 lmao

the only reason anyone cares cambridge is for bragging rights in the pub, having said that mine gets to 110 and wont go any higher :(. wonder how it will do with the de-cat and twins :)

Philsutton

drop it out an plane, terminal velocity will be much quicker than what the lawn mower engine will pull it at. Just think you could tell people that your nova did actually reach 150mph, for real.

This is the second conversation ive read about the top speed of a nova 1.2. There shit and slow except it and there are no bragging rights about owning a 1.2 nova.

not to be harsh mate, but at the end of the day you're 16... accept that!

yes, you might have had a few faster cars - but you haven't legally driven them...

as far as i've read (in this post especially)... no-one was bragging about owning a 1.2, just answering the question...

ANDYRACER
10-03-05, 07:37 PM
Well yes i am 16 so what i know i can't drive. But 1.2s are shit and this is the third thread about it.

Rach
10-03-05, 07:42 PM
well if you're so anti-1.2's don't read the threads about them...

it was obvious what this was about from the first post, so you could have looked at another thread...

anyhoo... i don't want to have a bitching session about this, so lets move on...

i get the impression that your going to be one of these people that gets a 1.6 as a frist car on the first night of driving it you'll lose control of it as you didnt realise that it cant take that corner at 110mph. An stuff it into a tree or fence. Ive known many a people that have done it, you need to start small to get used to how a car handles.

hey lets face it m8 in an ideal world non of us would opt for a 1.2 but at the end of the day its what u can afford to buy and insure!

3rd thread ...? so whos counting...??
as for a 1.2 being sh*t - ITS BETTER THAN WALKING IN THIS BLEEDIN COUNTRIES FOUL WEATHER ME LADDO !!

time to take a chill pill I think.

and i couldnt agree more mr novaflair. :D

ANDYRACER

Well Phil i have owned a 1.6 gsi but i sold it. Also i wouldnt go round a corner at 120mph due to seeing the aftermath of my mate going round one at 70mph. Also the insurance difference between a 1.2 and sr isnt tat bad ands well worth the extra money. And no im not going to start bitching about it coz its my opinion. So sorry to anyone who is offended, but i thought we were allowed to express are opinions?

Stuart

.... think andy may have my vote for the next nerd/twat/arse wipe of the week.....

Wat does it matter what size engine you've got?

if theres a crappy driver behind the wheel it doesn't matter what size engine there is, they'd still drive like a fooking twat.

It's how you use it that counts!

and no this has no reference to my knob for all you dirrty minded people! and for those that aren't my knobs huge anyway!

thers always a limit to how fast u can drive anyway

my bro has a tweaked 1.2i (with coilovers and decent wheels and tyres)

i have a 1.6 16v which is currently on shit tyres and alrightish suspension

we go on anything that resembles twistes and he can hold with me without any problems even tho i have over 2x the power and can smoke him on the streights every corner he'll be back on my bumper simply becuase he can go round them faster
