Those and GTOs are very much underated... There's a black GTO for sale near me at the moment - would have been nice but I think its an import (UK GTOs are rare as rocking horse shit lol) so the insurance would be silly... and anyway I have the Celica to put up with first :P

Not had change to check. normally the intercooler would giv eit away. But i think this maybe only a n/a.

I dont know much on these cars but we were told it was gonna be a TT
Ill check the engine stamp for this. As this is not the original engine

there great cars i knew someone who had one of them, you can get big hp from the engine when tuned properly, similar performance to a skyline

nova---chris
10-03-05, 01:26 PM
Lmao lardy!
You will learn to apreciate lardy at some stage.
Theres no real serious power without lardyness!

Just looka t your supras/skylines ect. all lard factors! 8)

Been trying to get this little beauty started today.
Finally we have spark / fuel pressure / and most importantly compression. Cam belts been of and back on to its correct settings.
We are getting close now.
We still cant get it to fire mind but am getting a fault code of the ecu box.
We just need to find a list of codes for the bloody thing thats proving harder than first thought.

The other thing is this car is a twin turbo! Checked out the pipe work today and theres deffo pipes for the front mounted intercooler. and also ont he interior dash theres a psi read out for the turbos!! Yum!!
So by hook or by crook this thing is gonna start. its not going home till its running lol!!!

you sure about the Twin Turbo thing ?

the 300ZX 's or Fairladies i've seen have the Turbo's Right up behind the front panel, and tbh you really can't miss the damn things ! lol

Id rather a 200sx my self lot lighter then the 300 and easier to work and alot lot cheaper.

nova---chris
13-03-05, 08:14 PM
well we havent actually been under the car to inspect.
But i read up on a few sites. and all the turbo models came with the psi readout under the speedo. and most came with tbar. Also the pipes that run fromt he top dont make sense if its n/a

i could be proved wrong once we get it jacked up. but were sure its a t!

nova---chris
13-03-05, 08:18 PM
possibly a single t? Car just dosent make sense at the minute lol
i guess the main way to tell would be engine stamp and chasis number. should tell me what should be what i guess.

Mind you the supra we have goes well for a n/a altho we have just picked up the twin turbo engine and box and all the bits. OH dear!

looking at pics im sure its not a turbo.
The 2+2 1996 came with a n/a and wasnt turboed which i think is the one we had.
But then we have the tbar roof and some other stuff that came ont he turbo. Im wondering if this is mixed up due to the engine not being the original one. ect ect. weird.

Nick

the two pipes on the above picture (coming from the center of the block at the front - With red samco hoses on halfway)

the ones on the pic of your ZX have nothing connected to them...

i presume the Manifold comes off the front of the block ?

any idea what they are for... ?

nova---chris
13-03-05, 08:55 PM
im not sure of the pipes. but there disconnected due to alot of bts having to come of due to the cam belt being changed and set.

i read up it had a backseat. which makes it a 2+2 version. which would probably mean N/A . so christ knows why it has a turbo sign and a working psi gauge?? hmm weird again!! lol its all good fun these things

DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

I like the 200's, in an ideal world I'd have the 200sx S14a with the V6TT of the 300...

I didn't think they made a single turbo version... did they?

The 2 seater SWB models are pretty rare.

ok another twist to the tale.
The only way of being sure this is a turbo will be to remove the front bumper and look for the intercoolers which sit each side.

Ive just been on a site which actually states that the 2+2 300zx was released in turbo format but rare as fuck. heres the quote.

I believe the '96 model was released WITHOUT variable timing, removing about 20 odd HP from the beast reducing to 280HP in the TT. The best all-round model would be a 1993 to 95 2+2, twin turbo, 5spd manual (however, they're rare as hens teeth and if you did manage to find one, it would cost!) NOTE: The TT only came in a 2 seater in the US

http://www.chimera.co.nz/300zx/

The clues to this were as follows
the dash board we have has the turbo psi read out on it that actually works. 2ndly the turbo came with the vented front bumper on either corner. which we again have. Our zx300 comes with the alrger rear spoiler and the tbar roof which makes this rare.
So perhaps boys and girls its a turbo after all. But once we take the bumper of we will confirm this.
We read that in the u.s the twin turbo only came in 2 seater format. But as you read in that link there was a 2+2 model that wus turboed. but is rare as fuck. and im sure thats what we are sitting on.

intresting!!

Here we go one of few

Sounds like you're having fun

So if it IS a turbo, it could be worth a bit?

nova---chris
15-03-05, 01:29 PM
Possibly. some mor to the jigsaw is.
the 4 seater was only released as a twin turbo in the UK and Japan!!
Id presume this care is pretty rare then. Which can only be a good thing.
As for cost i have no idea. but some of the cars on american boards are going for good money.

its not that i stand to make owt. i just found it all very intresting. makes a change from a day in life of a nova and rover lol!!!
Like cars with a bit of history!
