Hi guys,

I have a 2E3 Pierburg carb, inlet manifold and K&N from a 1.4SR that im planning on fitting to my 1.2. Apparently the 1.4SR inlet manifold won't line up well enough and I need a 1.3SR inlt manifold...

I have just been down to the local scrappy and they have some inlet manifolds but they dont know what litre/type nova its off. My 1.4SR one is at work, can't get that today to have a look.

Any one got a picture of a 1.3SR inlet manifold knocking about please? :)

thanks guys!

have'nt got a pic but its easy to tell a 1300 manifold, the ports are arch shaped, where as the 1400 or spi are square. The 1300 manifold you need also has two ports where the carb mates to it, make sure it has because the early 1300 did'nt so you need this for your twin choke carb.

pre 1985 1.3SR inlet wont fit... as they ran a 1b1

I'm down in SE London mate.

I grabbed that one from the scrappies. It has the arch shaped ports and a smaller square port on the left hand side, as you look at it. I'll see if i can upload a piccy in a minute or two.

I'm guessing that the top bit is an adaptaer plate for a set of webbers? as mine looks like this :?

Yes mate thats exactly what it is - adaptor plate for a weber 32/34

Yours has much longer bars for the carb to sit on, looks exactly like an astra 1.3 one i have sat in my shed.......

so that should be perfect for my 1.2 then ?

out of interest, what is is that it bolts onto and all the ports line up with?

Thanks :)

hey cassie what are you using to polish that manifold with, is it just polishing stones or are you using compound as well, where did you get them from

Johnny,

to get the general dirt and grime off of the Manifold i just sprayed some Carberettur Cleaning spray on to it, i have used on my current carb - sprayed it into the choke, made a bloody loud bang when i turned it over, followed by a massive cloud of black smoke! did the trick though.

Then used a mates Dremmel from work to clean the ports up, make sure its on polish or rust setting rather than metal cutting :? easy to get in there. Then for the outside of it im going to use a fine wire wool and some more carb cleaner to get the years of built up crap off of it. Then polish it up with a smooth dremmel attachment, meant for polishing! :)

the long rods are for the Pierburg 2e3, and need to be unscrewd for use with a weber 32/34.

The pierburg i have is for an automatic choke - my car is currently a Manual Choke.

Are the Webber 32/34's meant for a Manual or an Automatic choke set up?

Would i be best of fitting an Automatic Choke to the car or just getting another Carb (Pierburg 2E3 or Webber 32/34) with a manual choke????

My Nova is a 1986 C Reg and has slight trouble starting, as most old cars do :)

Cheers guys!

best job is to buy the webber carb kit it will solve allsorts of probs with starting, mpg and choke. Its manual choke and if you buy the kit with the carb for the nova you get all with it including manual choke cable, it even has the joiners for joining the old water pipes back into the matrix cause its not needed for the webber carb, plus you'll probaly gain a few ponies.

how much would i be looking at for the webber kit?

Couldn't i just use the existing manual choke cable?

How difficult is it to swap a carb over, say the 1.4SR carb? Unplug/bolt, re-plug/bolt etc?

Cheers guys

the kit is around ?240 in the shops, i got mine brand new off ebay for ?160. I think you can use the orignal choke cable. the carb is easy to fit just fit the adpater plate on the manifold, bolt on the carb and breather adpater, connect up everything like vacums pipe, fuel pipe etc and off you go.

its alot easier to use the old 1.2 choke cable, just needs cutting down a bit.

The cable that comes with it is if you are fitting it to a 1.3/1.4 with an auto choke.

The weber 32/34 is Manual choke yes.

So would i be best buying the Webber and refit the manual choke rather than the Pierburg and fit auto choke?

Yes if you got the money and want the better of the 2.

All u need then is a 1.3 throttle cable.

Last question, sry guys :)

Is it difficult to set the carb/choke/throttle cable/jets up? DIY job or garage to do job?

Cheers guys! :)
