Right well basically I have got a very nicely tweaked 1.6 and i am in the process of putting it in my yellow nova. The problem I am facing atm is what gearbox shall I run :? I did have an F10 CR but this won't fit over the flywheel of the 1.6. I have been looking at either an F13CR or F15CR. I have also heard that by putting different ratio FDs in it can alter the performance. Please enlighten me as to which setup to run 8)

Can you not buy his old F15 corsa box ?

i'd advise either an F15 or an F13CR, the F13's are easy and cheaper to pick up.

As for final drive, it really depends on what kind accel/top end you'l be wanting. As it's a fairly powerful engine (as i can remember) you'd be best of sticking to something like a 4.18FD, as this provides an excellent blend of Accel and top end. Any greater than a 4.18 and i think your going to encounter problems with grip off the mark due to the increased amount of torque supplied to the wheels.

Any less than a 4.18 i think you'd loose some of the performance that your engine is going to be trying to deliver.

i've jsut found a guide in the guides sticky at the top of the tech page.
http://www.novaload.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=1

it basically says exactly what i've said really, to go for a 4.18.

I would of loved to of had the f15 with the quaife diff to go with it but I really cannot afford it at present :(

also the F15 isnt a stright forward FD swap like the F10/F13 is.

eg its a ballache lol

Can't you just use the cluster out of your F10 in any old f13 bell housing? Problem solved.

yep, any f13 housing with the internals from your f10.

Is there any advantage in the gearing of the f10CR over an F13CR? It does like quite tricky to change the internals aswell :?

no advantage.
only reason i can think of is if you got an F13 WR and want to convert it to CR.

The only advantage of the f10cr is that you have it in your hands!n It's easy, have some balls and undo the bolts on the end, comes out in one piece!

it's dead easy to swap the internals. if the box is out of the car it's even easier

I have a couple of f10CR boxes and an f13cr. I also have an f15 with unknown ratios.

I want to keep the f13 casing how do I chack what ratio is in the f15, and how hard is the f10 swap??

the f15 is not comaptable with the f10 and f13.

to "check" the ratios you count the teeth and divide them

as benji said, the F15 internals arent compatable with the F13/F10 casings etc.

damn, thought they were all compatibel. Can you swap the others into the f15 case just out of curiosity??

Any easy way to check without opening it up?? I think someone had a pic where the stamping was with the final drive etc?
