my car has been sat on my drive for roughly 10 months whilst i have been working on it,the brakes arent locked because i have moved it forwards and backwards . what i want to know is: is it safe to pour petrol down the carbeurettor, because a few people have told me this will work. will it affect the engine and is it likely to work?? :?:
any help appreciated, thanks

where can i get easy start
before doing that and getting a huge flame jumping out, have you checked everything else 1st - ie the fuel pump, battery etc.
What happens when you turn it over? Does it do anything.
the fuel may have just drained from the pipes and it just needs a good turn over to draw it back through

when i start it over it goes chuga chug chug and nothing..
so do you think i should keep doing this and eventually the fuel will get sucked through
well the starter is obviously turning, and it sounds like the engine is trying to tick over.
Take the airbox off the top of your car and get someone to try and start it, see if there's any fuel going into the carb. (watch out for petrol squirting back out into your face )
other than that, check the coil, plugs and leads to see if each cyl is recieving a nice spark. Also check the battery output.

i had this, chug chug stuff!
i had a very weak spark, i got some of them super4 plugs of ebay and it fired up second time, not forgetting the VERY large POP/backfire from the pipe and a big cloud of smoke out the carb
all fine now tho :P

It helps when car has'nt been started in a while to take off the mechincal fuel pump and prime it manually, don't know why it dose'nt do the same job with the cam turning but always seems to get it running.
