Splitting your HU output direct to speakers is a bad idea, you'd be best using an amp or two to split the output. Or you could buy a set of components.

Have a mooch on In Car Express (http://www.incarexpress.co.uk) and CAS (http://www.caraudiosecurity.com) at their amps and component sets.

aye, splitting your HU outputs will just firsty provide half as much power to each speaker, and will also throw any impendance matching, that you'd have unwillingly done, out of the window.

Just get an amp, the more channels, the more speakers you can run

you'd beable to power a fair few speakers with this

Whas a cross-over?

So basically if i want say an extra 4 speakers in my car i'd have to buy an amp that would have say 6 channels?

I'm being thick i know it!

Everyone has to start somewhere

Channels are how many outputs the amp has - so a 4 channel amp can power four speakers (i.e. two pairs), a 6 channel amp can power 6 speakers (i.e. 3 pairs) etc.

Most amps allow you to bridge their outputs - this means connecting one speaker across two outputs, effectively doubling the power to the speaker. This means a 4 channel amp operating in bridged mode could then only power 2 speakers rather than 4.

This (http://www.passivecrossovers.com/) link should provide some handy info about crossovers.

Hmm, the 6x9s are 300w and my fronts are 180w..... currnelty my 6x9s are wired up as shown below.....they do pump out some serious volume. But they are completly killing the fronts - can barely hear them. To wire in the fronts to the amp do i just double up the wires? This is a "Diagram" of how i have it atm......
