Stealth shelf...

right... hoping too fit my sounds this weekend.. need to sort out a shelf though, any idea on whether too make one that dosnt move when opening boot or? measurements or any general help

if the shelf doesnt move when you open the boot its harder to get stuff out! also you can use your old shelf as a template. use 3/4" mdf to limit the vibrations and dont forget to enjoy making it. its not a hard job! just a cut and fit one really. once its the right shape and size just cover the holes for the 6x9 or what ever speakers your using with a little material, stretched tight and stapled in (this stops the accustic carpet from sagging into the speakers. and dont forget to use lots of glue on the carpet.

Whats the best fabric to use to cover the shelf? Would thick fabric limit the speakers performance? :?

the best ever stealth shelf i've seen in a nova is an original nova shelf.

he did it (i think) buy attatching a wooden frame onto the bottom of the existing nova shelf. Then put the speakers onto this. Then he cutt the holes in the middle of the shelf, and recovered the middle recessed area with some acoustic fabric that nearly matched the fabric already on the shelf.

It looks immaculate, identical to an original nova shelf, i think the all flat wooden ones look a bit odd. After all you wouldn't make some rear seats out of wood would you ?

yer thats koool, lol, when you say recoverd the middle recessed area what dya mean? lol.. as in carpeted the holes?

no, on the nova shelf the whole of the middle bit of the shelf is recessed, go look on your nova - don't be lazy

i think he recoverd the middle recessed bit , which also covers over the speaker holes with a similar fabric, or he may have covered the whole shelf again, who knows , but it is very good.
