Miles per galon from a 1.2

Just wondering what you standard 1.2 carb engined drivers get out of yours and what you're supposed to get?

Recently I worked out I was getting 23mpg which I think is a little low. :P

23mpg-do you completely rag it then? Or did you calculate it wrong? I get more than that out of my gsi. I think 30-40mpg (depending on driving style and urban/extra urban situations etc) would be average and as for what you're 'meant' to get-depends how you drive it.

if people start quoting fuel consumption in terms of money i will ban you as its just stupid and pisses me off!

eg "i get 100 miles from ?10" etc. its jsut crap advice!

which works out as about 38mpg on fuel at 80p a litre

My 1.2s did about 10miles to the litre.... so 10 litres = 100 miles. Not sure what that is in gallons as i'm Metric Boy lol :P

Nah I don't rag it. It's pretty much short distance urban driving so that probably doesn't help the fuel consumption.
I'll get it booked in with a mechanic this Easter and get it sorted because I need to drive it down to Devon and that won't be fun with 23mpg!

I used to get about 40mpg on me old nova and normally ragged it everywhere lol maybe explains why i crashed going normal speed :lol: lol
