help with keys

what are the numbers on the keys for?

the one i snapped says 506
the old 2L one says 296

but the bootlock of the 2L says 506 can i use that one to replace the snapted one?

the two different types of keys.... they arent the code for the key... the code is on a sticker on the rear boot lock

so if i get the code of my old bootlock, and the number off the key, they can make me a new one, even tho half of its missing

if the person who makes the key is good enough then they should be able to read the key and not need the code (like me lol)
