New ecu?

Somehow i've managed to burn out a lot of wires in my engine bay. When i started it earlier it cut out, i opened up the bonnet and saw smoke pileing out of the loom near the distributor. I cut the tape and had a look at the wires-thought 'okay i can replace them and it'll be fine'. But i've traced the wires back and there are A LOT of burnt out wires of various colours, oh bollox.

My question is-can i just get a new loom and plug everything in in the engine bay? It's a siemens ecu-how difficult would it be? Thanks
