As far as i know they're good cars.

Well made, good reliability and they're quite quick as well.

A friend of mine however did have numerous problems witht he ball joints e.t.c which led to one of the front wheels collapsing, it did have 17's and was low which probably led to this problem

a few of my mates have them. The only thing they rant about is rust, apperantly they are really bad for it.

Rexy

K cheer's there gettin on a bit now, and a lot of them have covered around 100k +

I know there suppose to be bomb proof and extremely reliable, trouble is a lot of them would of been ragged the arse of. I'm still using the nova for road rallies but fancy one of these alongside to play with at night and during the day.

Was going for a Pug 306 TDSport but my mates just bought an evo2 So need somthing that will at least keep up.

Dam mates and there faster cars...

Nick

civic vti vtec's are the mutts nuts (for a 1.6 16v) i had one for a while, only had filter on and stayed with my mates corsa valver on acceleration.

fairly easy to mod aswell, my mate has one now with a exhaust, filter and remap, reving to 9000rpm and its real fast for a 16. :D

Marc

Mate down the road had a newer shape vti, fuck me never been in a 1.6 thats that fast, he beats all his mates in 2 litres easily, didnt help he was a nutter in it  lol he had 134mph or something like that and from 70mph to 120mph accelerated very quick

hoping to get a 3rd (96+ not new shape tho) shaped civic vti vtec in a couple of years when i can afford it lol

but at the mo thinking of going to get a 1.5 or 1.4 civic 3rd shape till i can afford to get a bigger car.

anyone got any pics of civic's standard with alloys etc on it?

Marc
02-03-05, 04:13 PM
is that a vti mate? cause the lad who i was talking about before sold his other and is now looking for a black vti just like that.

could you get a few details mileage, price etc if it is a vti tho

ken
02-03-05, 08:10 PM
they do 3 variations i believe, an lsi 100 bhp 1.4 ? an esi 1.5 16v 130 and the 1.6 16v vti with 160 bhp, yeas they are very nice fast cars. But as mentioned the interior is dull. But if you want a car with, fairly good looks(exterior) and fast and fun, without the hassle of a turbo and jap buy one, just the simple mods lowered, exhaust and de-cat,fillter,16's,and a chip, with a manifold should be good for 175-180 bhp. This is the same spec as mmy mates crx del sol, and he managed 183 bhp on the rollers

ken
02-03-05, 08:29 PM
But i forgot to mention they are old peoples cars, and are expensive to tune...... personally if u want a fast car and not french. How about a corrado or golf g60, and tune it to 200bhp. they are both 160 bhp as standard and a chip, and pully exhaust and filter should be good for 190-200 bhp.

Or a mk3 astra gsi, with a calibra/cavalier turbo lump installed.

Or a calibra turbo
Fiat coupe turbo 220 bhp as standard at the front wheels, :D

Jack

Pah, only two wheels that work? ST205 240bhp (or 255 for the WRC ones) at all four wheels  :P

and 30% transmission loss :P

Yes it is a VTi mate, its not black, more of a dark blue/green colour. Spec etc is here:

i dont know much about the full technical side bout cars but... i heared about them is to avoid the jap imports as they dont have good undersealer as in japan it dont rain much if at all so its undersealer is weak or some shit?lol il problably get messages back saying im wrong lol
but the apart from that i heared there well good and can be run into the ground :2gunfire:

well my civic is now 10 years old and theres not a spot of rust on it yet so it cant be that bad

Mike.
06-03-05, 09:30 PM
jap cars don't really rust for some reason, apart from the early ones, i think the fastest front wheel drive car in japan is a civic

burgo
06-03-05, 09:32 PM
civics do eventually rust in the normal places other cars do, asin bottom of doors and tailgates. having said that ive never heard of one having to have welding underneith yet

Mike.
06-03-05, 09:36 PM
every car will eventually rust, but theres just something about jap cars that mean they don't rust as quick as, say rovers

burgo
06-03-05, 09:39 PM
did you not know the 2 series and 4 series rovers are basically civic's and the k-series engines are honda engines

i think 6 series are aswell :?

Mike.
06-03-05, 09:40 PM
yep they shared the same chassis and engines lol

burgo
06-03-05, 09:43 PM
yep they shared the same chassis and engines lolwhich is good because there are hundreds of rovers down my local scrappy but no civics. so time for my 1.6 crank and rods and rear disks :)

WTF are you on about! who told you that?

Japan make some of the most technologichally advanced cars in the world, you really think they'd be stupid enough to do that? ffs!

Jack
07-03-05, 12:01 AM
Nope, afaik he's right. Pretty sure I read about this from Bimta (sp). Cars imported from Japan don't have as good underbody sealing as european versions so are more prone to rust - one of their processes with prepping a jap import for the UK market is to whack on some underseal or something. One of the reasons I avoided a jap import.

dan_mk1
07-03-05, 12:21 AM
I have never seen a jap car with rust, bar a few of the very early crx/civics.....

burgo
07-03-05, 01:19 AM
dan i think what they mean is cars sold in japan and then imported have crap underbody sealing as aposed to the jap cars which are sold here

Chris
07-03-05, 06:34 AM
But it doesnt take long and is rather cheap to underseal a car?

I am going to look at a civic in a couple of weeks, myself and some mates are thinking of buying it and using it just for track  It is a B16A, same shape as Burgo's, grey, spoon cams and vtec controller, big brakes already and lowered  And it sounds awsome

Chris

burgo
07-03-05, 02:33 PM
very nice chris just dont go for a test drive or you wont be able to walk away from it

Chris
07-03-05, 02:43 PM
nah I have driven the car before, just haven't seen it for a year, there are a few of us chipping into it to use as a track car, I dont think we will get a test drive anyway, it has no wheels, seats or rear suspension on lol

We still have a few other options to look at though, thinking of a mk2 XR2 and a nova, the XR2 has a nice engine spec, just wants some 40's on there and a nova, which is a bare shell ATM. The nova will need an engine building for it and all will need seats/harnesses and a roll cage making. All in all the civic looks best for us as it is already rapid, handle very well as standard and wont require too much work

Chris

burgo
07-03-05, 02:49 PM
i find the good thing with civics is the amount of handling upgrades you can get for them, its silly really. the little mk2 fiesta's handle suprising well aswell though so for me the price would be the deciding factor i think

Aamir
07-03-05, 03:21 PM
For a 1.6, I don't think you can get better.
In black on thin spoke 17"s & 60mm drop look awesome

Don't believe it can keep up with a Corsa Valver tho,
I have wasted 4 vti'2 & a Type R so far.

Vtec controller is a must buy, cost ?350 but worth it,
with a vtec controller it will keep up with the Corsa Valver upto 4th gear

07-03-05, 06:42 PM
Sorry, thought I might jus butt in,seems most the civics are either really bad for rust(as in over the rear arches an tailgate)or they seem to avoid it,spose it matters if they've lived by the sea!an if u get pissed off with a B16,you can drop a B18 out of a teggy or even make a B20 out of a Honda Cr-v 2.0 litre and a 1.8 head then maybe get a mugen ecu or somethin that should give u 10,000rpm an 4,500 vtec cut-in,and the F*ckers are all bulletproof!!Vtec has never failed although solenoids do get blocked, but thas easy solved, jus make sure it's not starved of oil an stay on top of the servicing and they'll go for ever!
