View Full Version : Measuring alloy wheels
To cut a long story short, whats the proper way to measure alloys.
Straight across the middle?
Up slightly from the middle?
measure them ? why ?
it should say printed on the back, i presume you mean their diameter.
if your after the diameter it's straight across the middle of the circle, measured in inches.
if your after width, measure the width ?

Dunno why, i just felt like measuring them as i was measuring my boot for sub boxes and just measured me alloys.
THey are 16" masitalys apparantly, but measuring straight across them(the diameter) they are 17" :?

It will say on the tyre wall aswell, are you measuring from the one side of tyre to the other, or from the lip of the rim to the other...
if you are measuring from tyre wall to tyre wall, that would be why they are 17s
what does it say on the tyres, if the tyres are 16" the wheels are 16", if they wern't matched your tyres wouldn't stay inflated for very long at all
I think there is a special way to measure the wheels, it ain't simply straight across them.
The tyres are 16s, but measuring across the wheel face(edge to edge) the wheels are 17"
I know it seems a stupid question, but seems weird.

it will be the inside dimeter which you cant measure by putting a ruler to the outside. Ive measured m7 15s ages ago an they came out about 16 inch

Yeah i just tried it an they are about 16.7" on the inside.
I thought that it was wrong to just measure across the front.
