Dash Spraying???

i want 2 spray my dash black like a gsi 1 but i saw another post and the chap took his out2 spray it u think i can do it with the dash still in the car??

dont spray in the car - It'll go everywhere and you'll make an absolute mess (no offence but it gets everywhere!)

If its a mk2 one you dont want to be spraying it anyway - you need to stain it with a special vynal stain. Paint will crack because the surface is vynal and slightly spongey.

You can stain it whilst its in the car but its a faff - much easier to remove. Halfords used to do black dash vynal stain. You'll need several coats and allow time for it to dry inbetween. Apply as instructed and cont rush it (I think you dab it on).

Or you could buy the one above...

Either way youre better removing the dash.

ye, ive tried the whole in the car thing,,looked ok but cant get it spot on.took it out and done it,now looks the bollox. :D

i see no reason why you cant spray in the car. unless your not profesional with 30 years experience. the only other reason to not spray in the car is if you want a good finish. taking a dash out aint that hard! check the haynes manual. its in there. its just abit fiddley in places.

i think the stain sounds a good idea, personally never knew it existed. sounds crisp.

never used the stain meself but from feedback I've had from people I know who have used it they reckon its v good. Can look a little patchy if you rush it. Just follow the instructions and take your time.

halfords do an aerosol of the stuff for vinyl, seen pics of a dash done with it and it looked like a gsi one :lol:

I want that dash but I dont know how I'm gonna convince my g/friend that its worth driving for 4 hrs to pick it up and then 4 hrs back is really worth it! (on ban b4 any1 asks y I cant do the drive!)
